Lincoln Monthly Newsletter
May 2019
THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK...........Mr. Steve Brady
Congratulations to the entire Lincoln community on our recent designation as a 2019 Hall of Fame School by the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators (OAESA). Lincoln is one of seven elementary school in the state of Ohio to earn this prestigious award. The H.O.F. Awards Program will be held in Columbus, Ohio on June 14th. The following is from the OAESA website: “Exemplary educational programs that go above and beyond meeting the needs of students in elementary and middle level schools across the state are recognized annually through OAESA Hall of Fame School Recognition Program. This award has been distributed since 1984.”
We’re in the stretch run of another fantastic school year at Lincoln. This time of year is very busy, but exciting. Please check out the enclosed calendar with details.
This will be the final newsletter of the year and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents and students of Lincoln Elementary for all of their hard work and dedication. Our school is special (and a Hall of Fame School) because of each and every one of you. I look forward to working with you in future years. Have a wonderful and relaxing summer!
Sincerely,
Mr. Steven Brady, Principal
COUNSELOR'S CORNER.........Mrs. Nikki Farson
Hello Lincoln Families!
I am always so amazed with the growth of our students as we enter the month of May! As I reflect on the year and the time I have spent with your children - I have one thought on my mind and that is how lucky I feel to a be part of their journey. Lincoln students rock!
The last lesson of the year will focus on medicine and summer safety. Talking to your children about potentially difficult situations that may happen, creating a safety plan, and developing a self care routine are all helpful tools for kids to have a sense of security. We can’t be their “savior” for everything, but we can prepare them to cope with potentially challenging situations that may come their way during these fun summer months!
“Time spent playing with children is never wasted.”
Take care of each other and see you next year!
Mrs. Farson

SPRING ATTIRE GUIDELINES
As the weather warms up it is important to remind you of our guidelines for appropriate clothing. Please remember that children are physically active each day at school whether in PE class or at recess. Therefore, we ask that no flip flop sandals or sandals without backs be worn to school – these are very easy to trip in and we see lots of scraped knees. Please also remember that mid-riffs, spaghetti straps and shorts/skirts shorter than your finger-tips at your side are NOT permitted at school. We also ask that you save those summer hairstyles for summer. Colored hair and mohawks are summertime haircuts and are NOT school appropriate. Thank you for your support of these guidelines!
kINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
Online registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now available for children who will be age 5 by September 30, 2019. If you are the parent/guardian of a child who will attend kindergarten in the 2019-2020 school year, you may access the Class of 2032 Kindergarten Registration online link from the district home page.
WADSWORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Wadsworth Library is offering many summer programs. Please stop by the library or go to their website and find out about their free programs! Parents should take children at least once a week to the library throughout the summer to check out books or educational videos.
Library Website – www.wadsworthlibrary.com
Downtown Activities – www.wadsworthcity.com
Please bookmark the above websites and check throughout the summer. There will be updates on school happenings as well as downtown family events.
SCHOOL FEE INVOICES
Instructional Fees, Library Fees and PAST LUNCH FEES (from prior years) must be paid in the office with cash or check made payable to Wadsworth City Schools. Each fee needs to be paid separately.
PAST LUNCH FEES cannot be paid online by adding money to your child's account ... funds deposited into your child's account are used for current year fees and future lunches. Past fees roll over onto your child's overall fee list each year and must be paid in office to be credited correctly. If you receive an invoice and have any questions please call the office at 330-335-1460.
MOVING?
If there is a possibility you might be moving during the summer months, please notify the school or the administration office. It is important that we know this information and have correct addresses on file.
A NOTE FROM OUR CLINIC
