EDMS CAASPP INFORMATION
May 10th, 2021
#ToroFamily
As we move farther into Spring we are approaching our standardized testing season. There has been a lot of information out in the media about what is expected of schools and districts and we wanted to clarify a few of them. MDUSD will be participating in the CAASPP assessments. These have been reduced from previous years but still contain the core elements: English Language Arts and Math, as well as Science for our 8th-grade students.
Statewide summative assessments are required under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) to help provide consistent measures of student progress. These assessments are essential components of an equitable, valid, and balanced assessment system. They help provide actionable data for informing teaching and learning, as well as placement in programs and classes. All results will be publicly shared (with no student identifiable information) as well as your individual scores will be available in Aeries/Homelink.
Below I have shared essential information and processes for you to access what is needed. As well as the schedule we will follow the week of May 17 through May 21. These are the requirements for students to participate:
- Students need to know their SSID (A Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) is a unique, non-personally-identifiable number linked to a given individual student within the California public K–12 educational system.) This number can be found in letters that were mailed home at the end of March. These numbers MUST remain secure. If you did not receive the letter in the mail you can find how to access it below. (see below)
- A computer (PC, Apple, or MDUSD Chromebook) with a camera. Students must be on camera when the teacher is monitoring the sessions.
- A secure browser must be downloaded ahead of time. (see below)
As you read the information on these assessments, when it references session ID numbers or fields, these will be provided by the teacher on the day of the testing session.
If you have any questions please reach out.
Best,
Mr. Clausen
