Dr. Seuss Week
What a fun week it was! We had a great time celebrating Dr. Seuss and reading many of his stories! We started on Monday with a classic, The Cat in the Hat. The kids talked and wrote about how they would get the cat in the hat to leave their house. On Tuesday, we read Fox in Socks and created our own pair of crazy socks! Then it was Wacky Wednesday! The kids discussed and illustrated some wacky business! Thursday, we talked about ways to help the earth after reading The Lorax. We finished up our week by creating a silly animal that would be in our zoo. It was inspired by the story, If I Ran the Zoo. It was a week full of creativity and fun!
Math
This week in Math, we introduced subtraction! We started with the song, “Five Little Monkeys Jumping On the Bed.” The kids loved this and it was a great introduction to the idea of taking things away. Students are able to solve word problems using addition and subtraction, and are working on creating their own word problems. They have mastered the use of number bonds, now we are working on using those number bonds to write equations! Continue practicing Math at home every night for at least 15 minutes!
