Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 4th October 2019
Harvest Festival
A Colourful Harvest by year 4
We had some great thoughts and ideas about the many ways each colour of the rainbow can make us feel and even a song in Spanish!
Well done Year 4 and thank you to everyone who joined us in the Cathedral.
Young Archaeologists
This week in Year 4 science, the children explored diets from the past. They had to excavate some 'poo' taking on the role of an archaeologist. They had to measure the artefact and then extract items from the poo to determine which time period it was from - Tudor, Viking, Aztec or Roman. Mrs Moore reports that she thinks they enjoyed it and Miss Haslam definitely really enjoyed it!
Sports Captains
Thank you to everyone who has sent in the Aldi stickers, we have quickly filled the poster. We will receive some free sports kit and now have the chance to win £20,000. Please keep any more stickers for your own children!
Oscar's on 25th October Training Day
Booking is now open for the training day on the final Friday of the half term. On this day, 25th October, parent teacher appointments will be taking place at the start and end of the day. Staff will also be undergoing essential training. Therefore, no children will be in school except in Oscar's which will be open from 8am to 5pm at a cost of £20. Booking is made online using the link below.
We are sorry that we are unable to run the club in the October half term break but are aiming to set and publicise our holiday dates for the full school year in November. It would really help us to meet as many parents' needs as possible if everyone who might use the holiday club completes our questionnaire. Please click for the online form:

Message from the Friends
The Friends Of Ripon Cathedral School had a very productive AGM last Friday. We would like to welcome our new Co-Chair Sherrie along with Liz, and new to Communications is Lily. We are still in need of someone to take the role of Secretary: this would mean taking formal minutes of our meetings when it's needed. If anyone would like to join the general committee, you would be more than welcome. Come and chat with Sherrie, Liz, Tina, Katy or Lily if you have any questions.
We like to thank everyone for their support of the book fair last week. We raised £403 and we're able to buy £207 worth of free books.
We have dates in the diary for the school disco in November which will be announced soon.
Our next meeting date will be sent out soon for anyone wishing to join us.
