Principal's Chat

The countdown is on! The year has flown by and we are ready to have some fun to end the school year.

ILEARN testing is complete!! 4th and 5th grades are finishing up MAP (NWEA) testing.

We have some good-byes that we will be saying to some amazing educators. Mrs. Pagane (2nd grade) and Mrs. Plesha our social worker are retiring!! Mr. Musielak our gym teacher has taken a job at the collegiate level. Ms. Jackson will be continuing her Masters Program in Speech and Language. We will miss each one of these people dearly. They have left a mark on many.

Planting the Seeds of STEM

Margaret Heritage, junior at Munster High School, is working with Mrs. Herold's class to establish a sustainable educational gardening project so that students may develop enduring interests in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

Students will be planting corn, beans and pumpkin seeds in the outdoor science lab raised garden beds. Pairing spring planting related to 4th-grade Indiana social studies curriculum with fall harvesting related to 5th-grade science curriculum provides a great multidisciplinary learning opportunity for students.

One student said, "I bet the corn will be as tall as me in August!!"
