Feb 9th - PBL Tour
They will be here in the afternoon. We would love for them to have the opportunity to observe different grade levels in different stages of the PBL process.
Please let Mary know what PBL unit you will be in and what you will be working on. Also, if you have some artifacts (realia or digital) that would be good to share, please pass that information along as well.
Summer Flex Hours - For your planning
Also, GE training in Coppell ISD will be June 27th-30th.
Science from Linda Cook
The Elementary Science Content Specialists will meet from 4:00 - 5:00 pm on Jan. 24th at Brock in Training Room 2. We will continue our work on increased academic rigor in science and will discuss our scope and sequence and instructional materials for next year.
Region 10 will be offering webinars this spring to address two areas in the science classroom: ELPS & Inquiry. Please save the links to tune in for these events. Educators will be able to listen and learn about the essentials in each of these areas as well as ask questions of our Region 10 consultants conducting the training!
If you are not able to attend, that’s ok! The two webinars offered below will be recorded and posted to the Science Webinar Resource page through our online learning center. I have provided that link below as well.

Accountability Talking Points
Here are the talking points he mentioned:
* The A-F system misrepresents a large proportion of what happens in schools by reducing a domain, school or district to a single mark, especially since data being used are from a testing window fraught with testing vendor errors.
* A single mark for an evaluated area can’t fully capture the complexity of schooling, therefore not giving the public useful or accurate information about their schools.
* One score in an evaluated area can’t tell the whole story of a campus. The rating system is neither simple nor transparent. A high grade for a school may be masking underlying problems, whereas a low grade for a school may not give credit to those learners who are achieving at higher levels.
* Based on information from multiple data points, our district and campuses are proud of the achievements of our learners and the instruction of our educators.
* We use multiple data points to ensure we are providing a quality education for each and every one of our learners.
* The need to have high expectations and a will to support all learners in reaching their best is imperative, and that’s what we do in Coppell ISD.
