The civil war in Libya began in February in the form of a series of peaceful protests
Gaddafi was establishing a New Government in Benghazi. many nations come together and forced 1973 Resolution on him. He didn't back down so NATO were forced to attack.
In August rebels launched an offensive attack, intending to open a new, western front to break the deadlock. They fought their way down to the Mediterranean coastal plain, backed by NATO airstrikes, and captured the strategic city of Zawiya.
In October Gaddafi was Captured and killed.
