The Dolphin Whistle
August 17, 2016 Issue 1
Message from Ms. Lambert
Dear Parents,
Welcome Back to a wonderful new school year! It has been exciting and energizing to see the students back, ready to learn with eagerness and smiles. A few new staff members have joined our team and are already hard at work fulfilling the Mariano Castro vision for your children.
Last year at ELAC and School Site Council meetings we asked staff and parents what values you would like the school to focus on. As a result the four values that will be the focus of our school climate plan are Safety, Respect, Responsibility, and Perseverance. This week the teachers have already been teaching and emphasizing these with the students, so please ask your children for examples of each value.
THE DOLPHIN WAY
Safe-free from danger or loss
Respectful- understanding what is important and treating it or them appropriately
Responsibile - doing what's right, taking blame or credit for what you did
Perseverant - continuing to try even when it's difficult
Best Regards,
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT
We expect and hope to see all of you at Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 24 at 6:00 p.m. Each teacher will explain the class routines, procedures, expectations and answer any questions that you have. Your children love it when you see their classroom!

We encourage you to stop by at the main office to meet your Facilitator. Find out how Ernesto can provide support by recommending programs and services that address family needs that are impacting their children. He can help you by discussing services such has food assistance, physical and mental health programs, after-school tutoring, etc. He can also assist you in understanding the school system; how you can be more involved in your student’s academic success; and how you can participate in school events.
Ernesto can be reached at the office; at (650) 526-3590, ext. 1824; and at enassau@mvwsd.org.
