## Language Arts

This week in spelling, we had a sight word review with 25 words. Our new author study is about Tomie DePaola. We read one of his stories called Now One Foot, Now the Other and then focused on the skill of cause and effect. We identified several elements of cause and effect in this wonderful story. In grammar, we reviewed contractions. Only a few more present final drafts left! Yahoo! We are eager to start writing about our futures!

## Math

What a great week it was learning all about fractions! We kicked off our week exploring candy and seeing how candy is divided into equal parts. We learned that a fraction is a part of a whole. The part is called the numerator and the whole is called the denominator. We loved using colored Goldfish to sort and write the fraction for each color that was in our cup. We ended our week making a mosaic picture with different colored squares and identifying what fraction of each color we used to design our picture!

## Hebrew

This week was all about Passover— פסח ; we read the holiday story, sang holiday songs, learned related vocabulary and practiced for the Seder.

Here is some Passover vocabulary to review:

קְעָרָה- Passover plate (KE-AH-RAH)

חָמֵץ- not kosher for Passover (CHAMETZ)

לֵיל הַסֵּדֶר- the night of the SEDER= order (LEYL HASEDER)

הַגָּדָה- book of telling the story of Passover (HAGADAH)

עֶשֶׂר מַכּוֹת- 10 plagues (ESER MAKOT)

In our Ariot book, we covered the letters פ (PEY), פ (FEY) and ף (FEY SOFIT).

Shabbat shalomשַבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Galia Sabbag
