Opening of School Calendar

With changes in Woodland's opening over the past month, a calendar for the month is included for your review to be certain you know when your child(ren) have school as well as when they start.

Resources For Practice at Home

I hope this newsletter finds you all well. It has been a crazy time to say the least. This newsletter contains information to read through and some resources you can use with your child that supports mask wearing, and hand washing. Once in school, we will continue to review and practice these imperative measures in keeping students and staff safe at school.

Follow Five Steps to Wash Your Hands the Right Way

Washing your hands is easy, and it’s one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs. Clean hands can stop germs from spreading from one person to another and throughout an entire community—from your home and workplace to childcare facilities and hospitals.

Follow these five steps every time.

1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.

2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.

3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.

4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.

5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

Kindergarten and Preschool Screening

Screenings will take place on September 15th and 16th. Families of kindergarten and preschool students were notified by email of their scheduled appointment time. If an email was not received for your child, please contact principal Kim Saso at ksaso@stgrsd.org

Teacher Assignments

On Friday, families of first and second grade students received an email from their child's teacher for the year. Teachers provided information about themselves, this school year as well as needed supplies. Preschool families will receive an email from their child's teacher this week and kindergarten families will be notified by their child's kindergarten teacher on Friday, September 18th.

Requested Technology and Remote Learning Kits

Families should expect to hear soon when requested devices will be available for pick up. Device distribution will only be for our remote students at this time. Our remote teachers have also put together materials and we will coordinate the pick up of the kits with the day selected for technology distribution.

Kits will also be provided for in person students on the first day of school. These kits will support student learning should we have to have a class, individual students or the whole school go to remote learning.

Transportation/Drop Off/Pick Up

LPVEC is working hard to create our bus routes to support social distancing. This information will be communicated once the bus routes are set.

Once we have this information, drop of and pick up times for families driving their child to school can be determined and will be communicated. We will be utilizing the School Dismissal program and once details are worked out, more information for parents will be provided.

Free Lunch and Breakfast

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on Monday, August 31, that it will allow summer meal program operators to continue serving universal free meals to children through December 31.

Parents will be asked to order breakfast and lunch in advance using the School Cafe application. More information will be shared in the near future.

Family Tech Night (Please register for one session)

The District Instructional Coaches are hosting Family Tech Nights to help answer questions about the programs that teachers will be using to instruct students this fall.
