Happy Birthday Cool Spring!
Penguins FUN RUN
The program, integrated with the PBIS national framework, will bring together a STEM and WILD, WILD, WEST theme!
We invite you to help the school and PTA by reaching out to sponsors. All levels of participation are appreciated, and this can be guided by parents/guardians. For families who would prefer to make an individual donation to the school, we appreciate that support as well. All families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run. Thank you for your support! More info to come!

LCPS School Nutrition Services Information
The Free and Reduced Meal application is available online. Families wishing to request meal assistance should apply at http://nlappscloud.com. There are no longer paper applications. Families needing assistance with completing the application may contact our Parent Liaison, Ms. Callaghan at Paula.Callaghan@lcps.org or by contacting the school office.
LCPS has reviewed and revised guidelines to promote healthy nutritional habits among all students and to support students with severe food allergies. Related to these guidelines, we cannot accept any cookies, cakes, cupcakes or other food treats for students’ birthdays; including for use during lunch. We are no longer permitted to have ice cream from the cafeteria be purchased for birthdays as well. For classroom parties during the school year, the teachers will work in conjunction with room parents and in communication with parents of students with severe food allergies to ensure safe and health conscious items are used.
We Need You!
Our first PTA meeting will be held on Sept. 17 at 4:30PM. All families are invited to attend, but stay tuned for an option to attend via online media!
Picture Day
School Safety Reminder
We love having visitors and volunteers here in school! We do remind families that parents and visitors must show proof of identification (photo ID) prior to being admitted to the building and state the reason for the visit. Visitors should then come in to the office to check in and receive a visitors badge. We ask visitors to return the badge and check out in the office before leaving the building.
From the PE Dept
Welcome back! In September, Gr. 4-5 students will complete their Pre-Fitness measurements. They will be tested on their flexibility, cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular endurance and muscular strength. Please ask your students about these tests and what goals they would like to set for themselves!
All grade levels will be learning the Five Components of Fitness (cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition) this month. We will play games and activities to help us learn each one and understand the effects each component of fitness has on the body. Students will understand the importance of each component and give example exercises for each component.
Please have your students wear tennis shoes on their PE days. Shoes such as sandals, crocs, open toed, and dress shoes are not safe to wear during Physical Education classes. Please contact Mrs. Blakeney or Mr. Nowak with any questions about the PE program or visit the PE page on the Cool Spring website.
