Let's Get Rowing!
Meet & Greet
We have had several new people express an interest in rowing this year. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and share with you our passion for rowing. We will have hors d'overs and wine!
We are hoping to schedule teams Mondays and Wednesdays for experienced rowers and competitive master rowers. On Tuesday and Thursday we hope to have an additional experienced recreational team as well as, a novice team. We are planning on having a Saturday am class for experienced and novice rowers if there is enough interest. There is also a Friday am class available for experienced rowers.

Learn- to- Row
- Saturday May 31, 2014
- 2 1/2 hour sessions available starting at 8 am (first come first serve!)
- 2351 River Ave, Sandusky OH 44870
Also the home of the Big Island Canoe Launch
- Our Learn to Row is broken up into two sessions; one on land, one on the water. Descriptions are below.
- Cost for Learn to Row sessions is $30 total.
- Once you have completed a Learn to Row session, you are eligible to join for the season.
On Land Learning:
This will be a hour learning session which includes coaching and training on the indoor rowing machines we affectionately call 'ergs'. It will also include time to watch the mandatory safety video, learn the lingo like "weigh enough!" and answer any questions you may have.
On Water Learning:
This will be a chance for you to get in the boat and try out your skills on the water in an eight man rowing shell. It will be coached by a Level II Certified USRowing coach. You will be taken through a warm-up, learn some drills and try rowing at least by 4s by the end of the day! Wear layers, bring water and be prepared to walk into the water while carrying the boat. No baggy pants or baggy shorts as they will get caught in the seats rollers. Some sort of foot protection while walking the boat into the water is mandatory. Old sneakers or water shoes with a sole work well.
