MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT

We are in the midst of the holiday season and hope all our families enjoyed time together during the four day weekend. We are aware that students, staff and families are experiencing some illnesses due to colds, stomach flu and COVID. Please remember to stay home if you are feeling ill or have a fever. Let's break any cycle of illness by getting healthy. Notify your school, and they will get you an missing school work. We appreciate your help in maintaining healthy school environments.

Family Belonging Survey

We value our partnership with families and want everyone to experience a sense of belonging in our schools. If you didn't get an opportunity to complete the survey during conferencing, you still have time to provide feedback. Each school has a different survey to reflect on the experience at individual schools. If you have students at multiple schools, please complete the survey for each one. Your input by December 16 is greatly appreciated.

Huge Thank You to Holiday Meal Sponsors

This holiday season, we’d like to thank our Graduate Yelm! partners Northwest Chevrolet, O Bee Credit Union, Puget Sound Energy and the Lacey Army National Guard Recruiting Office for making sure every YCS student has a nice meal on the table this Christmas. We could not do this work without these incredible community partners, and it is because of their tremendous support that we are able to provide 200 YCS families with a holiday meal.

Inclement Weather - Are You Ready?

The weather forecast and snow earlier this week is a quick reminder to be prepared. We encourage you to have conversations with your students about the importance of safety as our weather changes. Wearing appropriate attire and walking safely to the bus, at school, on sidewalks and in parking lots.

As a reminder, if road conditions are poor, we try to make decisions by 5:30am and will put out messages through School Messenger, social media and our website. You can also sign up for FLASH ALERT. Stay warm and dry!
