for Moodle (or anything in eschool and Eduphoria that you need assistance with, please come see me when I am at your campus! You can come during your planning period the first two weeks! After that I plan on starting to be in PLC times, so please let me know if you need assistance and I will schedule with you a time to meet.
Strive
Strive is replacing Appraise and Workshop. It’s a dashboard that sits on top of those applications and adds in some new functionality to help teachers set goals and upload evidence. Administrators can track your progress towards your goals quickly by looking at your dashboard. Administrators and Teachers can message each about the goals and the evidence they upload to show that they are meeting their goals.
When teachers go to Strive they can add personal goals, put date for completion on them, message their AP about their progress, add evidence and add actions they have taken towards their goals. They can also view their evaluations and walkthroughs. Finally, they can view see course they are enrolled in and look for additional courses to take. All courses entered into Eduphoria this year are aligned to the T-TESS domains that can be aligned with their goals.
If you look in your Help section of Eduphoria, there is a lot of information about Strive. Here are a few that I think might be helpful.
Before & After: Appraise/Workshop vs. Strive
Here is a folder with handouts you might like
If you are feeling really ambitious, here are webinars you can watch.
Emailing Parents in eSchool
1. It doesn't like attachments. I'm not saying it never works,. it just doesn't always work, which makes it quirky. Better choice- upload your attachment to Google Drive, share so anyone with the link can view it, then send the link in the email.
2. The process above also helps with this little dandy- our emails are screened for inappropriate words. Which sounds like it wouldn't be a problem but science, vet med, and medical terminology sometimes use correct terminology for body parts and law classes use all sorts of interesting terms when talking about different offenses. If your email gets kicked back, think about the content.
3. Watch for kids whose parents both use the same email address. Sometimes parents get mad when they get multiple copies of an email.
Email Groups and Correction About the Front Office Email Group!
To find the LTHS email groups, type in LTHS_ and then search. The underscore is important and if you leave it off you will see why :)
We have the following email groups set up now at LTHS:
LTHS_ALL_Staff (includes the custodial and cafeteria staff)
LTHS_Staff_Only (Use this one to send all staff email if necessary. This one excludes custodial and cafeteria staff)
LTHS_Science
LTHS_History
LTHS_Social_Studies
LTHS_ELA
LTHS_LOTE
LTHS_Fine_Arts
LTHS_ICs
LTHS_Office_Staff
LTHS_Paraprofessionals
LTHS_Admin (principal, APs and counselors)
Please at some point check to be sure you are on any of these lists that you should be on. If you open email and pretend like you're going to send to a group, you can expand the group and check the membership. Having trouble, let me know and I will help! I don't want you to miss something important!
Reservable desktop Labs

Printing
Please don't use other printers unless absolutely necessary (think budget)
The color printer is in room C133. To use it, come down to room C133, logon to the computer next to the printer and print from there. Be conservative.
Home Access Center
Be sure as you start creating assignments that they are all published (full green circle!) so that parents always see the correct grade in eschool.
Skype for Business
This is different than regular skype, so if you need to SKype someone isn as a guest speaker you will still have to download the regular Skype program. Let me know if you need assistance.
Team Drives
- Share with only the people who need access.
- Search titles and content for key words!
- If someone on the team leaves, the information STAYS in Frisco!
- UNLIMITED storage space!
These are really easy to set up. Let's try to not store stuff on the S drive this year. See me with questions.
Equipment Procedure Changes
Math, Science, English, History each have 2 carts of their own to reserve. Don't reserve them unless you are in that department. Reservations still go through Facilities and Events. Last minute and need a cart? You need to talk to the IC first before submitting a reservation, please.
We will stall have the following carts for general checkout from room C133 off the library:
Trinity University (15 Chromebooks) , Southwestern University (15 Chromebooks), Austin College (15 Chromebooks) and SMU (30 Chromebooks)
You may have noticed that the SMU cart is not listed in the reservations yet. It will come back, hopefully very soon, as soon as I get the new Humanities carts set up and moved upstairs for those classes.
Students may not be sent to pick up or return carts. Teachers must do this. If you reserve more than one cart, you are welcome to bring a student to assist.
Three strikes-
Carts should be returned on time with all devices plugged in inside the cart, the cart should be plugged in, all devices should be neatly stored and should be in the correct cart. If any of these things does not happen, if a student is sent with the equipment, or if anything else happens that is deemed unacceptable treatment of the carts or devices, the teacher may earn a strike. After three strikes, the teacher must use desktop labs with his or her students for the remainder of the year and will not be permitted to utilize the mobile devices.
