Holiday Help

Each year Ashley High School strives to help Eagle Families in need for the Holidays. Please fill out this form if you are a family in need of extra Holiday Help. Make sure to read the instructions carefully. Please note that as much as we want to fill every need and wish, our ability to help relies on volunteer donors. Key Club News

On Saturday, November 19th, students from Ashley's Key Club participated in a tree planting. 124 trees were planted in Pine Forest Cemetery to replace those destroyed by storms. The Arbor Day Foundation and Cape Fear Garden Club worked with the Alliance for Cape Fear Trees to put on the event.

Pine Forest is a historically black cemetery. When insurrectionists murdered African Americans in Wilmington and deposed the elected city government, many black citizens hid in Pine Forest Cemetery. The cemetery is also the resting place of many prominent black leaders, including Dr. James B. Dudley, the president of North Carolina A&T College from 1896-1925, Dr. James Francis Shober, who was the first licensed physician in North Carolina, and some victims of the 1898 massacre.

124 trees were planted to commemorate the 124th anniversary of the attack and honor those who died.
