March Edition

A message from Ms. Reeves

Here we are well over half way through the school year. I know this is the time when students (and let's face it educators too) start getting a little distracted by Spring Break on the horizon, but this the time for all of us to persevere. We have more time to keep growing and learning so we need to take advantage of it. Then enjoy the break.

March Character Education: Confident

This month we will be talking to students about how to be confident. Being confident is feeling sure of yourself and your abilities not in an arrogant way but simply in a secure way. We will discuss what is self esteem and ways to encourage healthy self esteem. Self esteem is simply how you feel about yourself. Students with healthy self esteem recognize their value as a person and know they are worthy of respect. We will end our discussion of confidence by learning about assertive communication. Assertive communication is not the same thing as being demanding or aggressive. Teaching kids to be assertive helps them to stand up for themselves in a manner that is honest but respectful to others.
