MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL OPHUS
Dear Fairview Families,
As you may already know, at the District 57 School Board meeting last evening, the decision was made to transition to a hybrid model of instruction giving parents the option to have their children come to school for in person learning starting on November 9th. Families will still have the opportunity to choose to continue with remote learning if they feel most comfortable with this option. The district sent a survey to all families today where you will be able to make a choice between transitioning to hybrid half-day in person instruction or remaining in a remote setting. It is very important that families fill out this survey by the October 2nd deadline to allow us time to prepare for this shift, as many steps will need to be taken between the close of the survey and the transition to this plan in order to be ready for our students. Thank you for your help!
For more detailed information about what each option will look like, please read the information provided at this link. Please note, in order to create a schedule for a half-day hybrid model of instruction, we were required to change our start and end times for the school day for both hybrid and remote learners. This change allowed us to have time to sanitize classrooms between our AM and PM classes, run workable bus routes between the three elementary buildings, ensure our programs could still run across both hybrid and remote learning models, and provide teachers with the plan time required by their contract. The link included above provides more in depth information about those upcoming changes, so please be sure to read it thoroughly prior to filling out the survey provided by the district. I know this is a lot of new information and can be overwhelming to parents, so do not hesitate to reach out to me via phone (847-394-7320 x4012) or email (dophus@d57.org) if you have any questions about this transition. I am here to help! Lastly, take a few minutes to watch this video with your children for some other updates, celebrations of upcoming birthdays, and student acknowledgements. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dan Ophus
Fairview Principal
