Family Shout Out!
JCI Senate State President Gary Jones
With the passing of Past JCI Senate State President Gary Jones, the North Carolina Jaycees are encouraging current and former Jaycees, Senators and Cardinal Corps. members to make a donation to the Jaycee cottage at the Boys and Girls Homes in his memory.
Gary loved the Jaycees cottage and this will hopefully help keep that love going for many more years to come, especially since the cottage is undergoing renovations to help make it a teaching kitchen.
Interested persons can mail checks to:
Gary Jones Boys and Girls Homes Memorial Fund
c/o North Carolina Jaycees
6300 Creedmoor Rd, Ste 170, #257
Raleigh, NC 27612
We will collect funds up until Local Officers College (Nov. 14) and then present it at the NCJC Christmas Party (Dec. 12)
Turkey Shoot
The Central Carolina Jaycees are bringing back our annual Turkey Shoot this year! To make things even better, we’ll be donating our profits to the NC Jaycee Burn Center at UNC, a main priority project for Jaycees across the state. Planning session will be held soon. Contact Gina Guerrero for more information.
Here’s everything you need to know to come out and have some fun with us.
When: Every Friday (7-11pm) from October 2st until November 13th
Where: Field to the left of Wal-Mart on NC Hwy 87.
What: Bring your unloaded shotguns and rifles. We’ll supply the ammunition at $3 per round. You’ll have the chance to win pork chops, sausage, ham, bacon, country ham, chicken, and — of course — turkey. This is a family friendly event, so there will be no drinking or other adults-only activities. If we have enough children interested, we will host BB gun rounds.
Christmas Parade
While the Halloween decorations are still in store windows and the holiday banners have yet to appear on the telephone poles downtown, the Central Carolina Jaycees is already hard at work preparing for the annual Christmas parade.
The parade brings much pomp and circumstance, with a grand marshal, classic cars, an array of marching bands and dance studios, and of course all the civic entries and commercial floats. Everyone who is anyone is out on the streets of Sanford to see the sights and watch for Santa to arrive at the end of the parade!
Amy Davis has volunteered to co chair this project and Gina Guerrero is looking for someone to chair this project. More planning will take place late September. If you are interested please contact Amy or Gina.
