A Cordelia Hills Staff Update, 9/7/2018

Ed Equity Follow-up

Thank you so much to everyone for engaging in the staff meeting. It made me proud to know that I work with such a great group of professionals. Feedback can be found here in this link. Several things to consider/follow-up on:

1. My goal is to steadily increase the amount of time I am spending in your class. You can expect feedback in two ways. The first is the google form that all principals have agreed on using to provide feedback once a month to every teacher. The second is more simple. It is simply a set of glows (observations of actions that support strong student learning) and grows (my wonderings about instructional practices in the classrooms). The grow will come in the form of a reflective question. The goal is that the question opens up a dialogue between us about a particular practice in the classroom. Remembering, this is a wondering and NOT a negative judgement.

2. Hope is NOT a strategy. WE saw amazing growth this past year in many of our metrics. Simply put, however, we can't HOPE that happens again. We have to sharpen our practices and WORK TOGETHER to push our students to new heights.

SIMPLY PUT, I believe we are the best elementary school in this district and we are going to continue to shine and grow. Let's go FIREFIGHTERS!

A team of educators from FSUSD is hosting the 2nd Annual FSUSD Ed Camp this Saturday, 9/8 at Cordelia Hills starting at 8:30 a.m.

Remember, part of keeping our students and campus safe relate to being proactive. Thank you for continuing to always remind our students about schoolwide and classroom expectations. Also, please remember to supervise students appropriately.

Additionally, I am going to start using announcements next week to remind students to move to the playground immediately in the morning and not to loiter in the common areas as they hang up back-packs. Please do me a favor and remind them of this expectation!
