SHADY GROVE MATTERS WEEKLY UPDATE
February 18, 2024
THE ADMINISTRATOR'S CORNER
Greetings Shady Grove families! There is no school for students tomorrow, Monday, February 19th in observance of President’s Day. This week in homeroom, students will continue learning about Black History Month profiles. On Tuesday, selected 8th grade students will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also called the Nation's Report Card. The parents of 8th graders who were randomly selected to participate were already notified in a separate email on Tuesday, February 6th. Our Winter basketball season officially comes to a close on Wednesday, with our final match against Rosa Parks Middle School. The Lady Timberwolves will be playing at home and our boy’s team will play away beginning at 3:15 PM. We wish both teams luck, and are thankful to Coach Burns and Coach South for their time and dedication this season. On Thursday, our therapy dog visits will occur during each grade level lunch. I would like to conclude my message for this week with some important information for our community. In an effort to ensure that our students are safe, secure, and above all engaged in their learning, we ask for your continued support to reiterate to students that cell phones and other personal electronic devices are not allowed at Shady Grove Middle School. These devices cause a major disruption to the learning environment that we collectively all want for our students. Lastly, we kindly ask that outside food not be brought into our building. If students bring outside beverages or food in the morning they will be asked to finish it before homeroom in the main office and if they are unable to do so, they must dispose of it. Outside food for lunch (this does not include homemade lunch) is also not permitted. We truly appreciate and thank you for your continued partnership in ensuring our building shines inside and out. That is all for now #TimberwolfNation! Wishing you all a fantastic week!
~Ms. Merino
