CIS News November 9, 2020

Thank you!

Thank you to all the students who were able to log on and complete their remote learning assignment on Friday! If you had trouble logging on or have questions about the assignment, please contact your classroom teacher.

If you have Internet at home and need a device for remote learning, please let your classroom teacher know so we can get you added to our list. Please remember that a cell phone is not considered a device that is appropriate for completing school work.

Congratulations

Student Wellness Surveys

This year is unlike any we have experienced, and the health and safety of our students is our top priority. To help identify students in need of additional support services, all classroom teachers will be administering brief wellness surveys to their students at least once each semester. Survey responses will be used to connect students with appropriate resources, including school health professionals (such as a school social worker or counselor), who may offer additional screening to determine specific concerns. During these unprecedented times when the safety of our students is critically important, we will not seek your permission for each student survey. If you do not want your child to participate in school wellness screenings, you may opt your child out, by contacting the main office by Monday, November 9th.

Kindness and Compassion Drive 2020

In order to promote kindness and compassion within the school and community, specifically this holiday season, we are encouraging participation in a collaborative Kindness & Compassion Drive from Monday, November 23rd through Friday, December 4th. Items we will be collecting include:

  • NEW Unwrapped Toys will benefit the Mosaic Wonderland Toy Store, providing parents in financial crisis a way to shop for their children for Christmas. (See reverse side for a detailed shopping guide)

  • Canned Goods - Non-perishable food items and dry goods will be donated to Hope Resources (formerly known as the North Berrien Food Pantry) which is currently located at Coloma United Methodist Church.

  • New or Gently Used Winter Coats

  • Waterproff Winter Gear (waterproof snow gloves, snow boots, and snow pants) will benefit our students who are without weather appropriate snow gear.

Cold and Flu Season

The cold and flu season is almost here! Please keep your student(s) home if they are not feeling well. The attached article gives some guidance on how to prevent the spread of germs. Please take a minute to read it.
