Charity Walk Event on Friday May 13th!
Hello! Susitna is officially registered as a team for the Charity Walk ("graze to raise") event on Friday, May 13.
Please consider joining this fun, family-oriented event! The Harmon family will be there. Each time we have gone to this event with other organizations, we have had loads of fun, and Andrew has won prizes. One year it was a year's membership to the AK Native Heritage Center, and the next year it was a year's membership to the Wildlife Refuge.
They do tons of door prizes and giveaways. Plus, the food is pretty good.
Susitna gets to keep about 40% of each registrant's fee. You can also collect pledges above and beyond the registration fee ($20 for kids and $35 for adults,) and these all go to our organization.
The date for this fun fundraising event is Friday, May 13 at 6PM. Early registration ends on May 8. You save $10 by doing it before then.
The way it works is we register under the team name Susitna PTA and then as the "team captain" I will pick up the race bibs (they are actual bandanas that you can tie on as a bib...) and distribute them to you at or just before race day.
Wear your Susitna shirts, and we will have a meeting spot for anyone who wants to walk as part of the team.
(Or not.)
The course goes from the Dena'aina center through downtown, and there are about seven food stops along the way that area restaurants have food out for walkers. Then there is a big carnival-type event with music and great door prizes at the Dena'aina after the walk. They have free pony rides, bounce houses, kids' activities, food, etc.
Did I mention the beer garden? (This is for an extra fee, but everything else is part of your registration cost.)
The school gets about 50% of the registration fees, plus any extra donations that people pledge.
Sign up by following the link below! Then scroll down a bit and look on the right-hand side. There is a link that says "register." You have to create an account with "race roster," but you can do it quickly either through your email or a Facebook account.
Bring a friend!
