Broken Arrow Week 18 Recap
Directors Notes
Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. Psalm 33:20-22 (KJV)
I heard that you guys had lots of fun on Wednesday! Thank you Kara and Erin for making those Rice Krispy treats. If you want bring in your crystals and show your class what yours look like.
Special Speaker this week We have a special speaker joining us this week immediately after our morning assembly to introduce the next six weeks of our fine arts segment.. Service Project (Care Packages for the Homeless)
We are asking each family to go shopping for items that can fit in a gallon zip lock bag (razors, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream, wash cloth, gloves, snacks, etc, I have bright yellow scarves from national school choice week we will include). We will will provide the lip lock bags for each family. The families can write scripture or notes of encouragement to include. Then the families can take their bag home and ask God to direct them who they should give it to. We will do this February 21st after lunch.
For Week 19
Family Presentation -
(You can be as creative as you want to be for family presentation. You can do a skit, tell us about your favorite state you have visited, a family tradition, favorite holiday and why, share a homeschooling tip that has really helped your family or maybe share a curriculum that your family really enjoys, or even entertain us with jokes)
Playground Duty - DeNeui and we need a volunteer (If it is lower than 40 degrees we will be inside the gym. Maybe some games could be organized if we are inside!!
Suggested Oral Presentations: (remember you can always choose what you want your child to present, this is just a suggestion) Our primary focus should be on helping them with skills.
Skill to practice: Expression - Make your voice interesting by varying your tone and volume, use pauses.
Older Classes- Recitation - Pick a favorite poem, speech or verse to recite.
Prayer Requests
- Pray for Kara Wadsworth who is currently in Arizona taking care of her sister and her new baby. Pray for her sister's heart to be softened and return to the Lord. Pray for healing for Kara as she will be have shoulder surgery soon.
- We praise God for Abbey's surgery going well. Continue to pray for her healing to go down and for her photophobia to be healed!
- Pray for BJ Wild to have strength and stamina as he balances taking care of his father and Abbey. BJ's father has blood clots in his legs and lungs.
- Pray for families that may be looking for jobs. Pray that the Lord would open up the doors quickly and for them to have wisdom.
- Pray for your fellow mom's and dad's to have strength and joy to continue to homeschool during these winter months.
- Pray for our children and family members to all make a personal decision to follow after Jesus with their whole hearts. Pray they have the courage to be bold in their walks with Christ.
Community Handbook
Friendly reminders
Please remember that children should not be left in the rooms without an adult. Thank you for communicating this to the students. If you see a child in a room without a parent please tell them to come out of the room and inform their parent.
Just a reminder that if you need to leave campus for any reason and intend to leave your child, just for a few minutes, you must fill out an guardian form releasing someone else to take charge of your child.
MAP CONTEST
Keep working on those maps. We are close to our goal! I wonder if we can reach 5,000 in time for National Pi Day on March 14th.

Week 18 and Beyond
Foundations to Challenge
“While a love for book learning doesn’t ensure living well, it does enable one to learn from the mistakes of people that you will never meet.” Echo in Celebration (115)
“A day which will live in infamy,” proclaimed President Roosevelt on December 7, 1941. As our Foundations students hammer in this week’s memory peg, we know that they are building a base for future understanding of WWII, world alliances, world economies, and political philosophies. Challenge students will benefit from this foundation as they discuss current events in Challenge B, the Marshall Plan in Challenge I, the culture surrounding the rebuilding of Europe in Challenge II, American foreign policy in Challenge III, and the philosophy of government in Challenge IV.
