A Message from the Administrative Team
Greenwood Students and Families:
We celebrated Veteran’s Day this year with performances from our choir and band. Thank you to Mr. Gowers and Dr. Slater for preparing the students for this recognition. Knowing the importance of American history and what it means to serve our country are great lessons of Veteran’s Day. We hope to return to a more formal assembly next year on November 11th.
A reminder to parents of secondary students (6-12) that all students should be picked up after school by 3:30 pm. If you are unable to pick your student up at this time, they should be in a supervised activity or stay in the after-school study hall (room 215). This room is supervised by a student worker until 5:15 pm each day. When basketball season starts, the same expectation is in place. There is no “hanging out” after school and waiting for a home game to start. We appreciate your cooperation and compliance to this expectation.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Greenwood will be having the traditional Thanksgiving Day Assembly on Friday, November 17th during 8th hour. As part of this tradition, current parent Dr. Bradley Putty will address the students. It is also a tradition that Greenwood students “dress nice” on this day – much like one would do for a wedding or attend church. There is no school for students November 20-24.
As you know, we have brand new cafeteria furniture and are so grateful for the generous donation by Greenwood parents Jerry and Paula Daughtery who made this possible. We love the new look of our cafeteria! Out with the old, in with new means that we have some old cafeteria tables for sale, please contact Dr. Snodgrass if you are interested in them.
Tonight is the Blue Jay Bash at the Old Glass Place at 521 E. Saint Louis Street from 6-9 pm – always a fun time and great way to support our school. Thank you to Amanda Montileone and others for their organization of this annual event.
Go Blue Jays!

Happy Veteran's Day!
Today we took a moment to observe Veteran’s Day at Greenwood Laboratory School. We want to thank all of our veterans in the Greenwood family for their dedicated service. Today, we honor you.
Thank you to Zoe Allie for leading us in the pledge and introducing our performers.
Thank you to Mr. Gowers and our gifted choir students for singing a beautiful version of our national anthem.
Thank you to Dr. Slater and our talented band students for marching and playing such wonderful patriotic music for us to enjoy.
Thank you to all of our teachers and students who took a pause in their morning to observe and honor the service of our veterans. Thank you to Mary Nottingham for her service to our country.
This day honors our United States veterans of all branches and service in all wars. There are millions of veterans in our country, find those that you know, and thank them today.
