Safety Drills
Schools are starting their schedule of safety drills, including this week’s first fire drill of the year at Memorial.
School practice orderly evacuation from the buildings and buses, Drop, Cover and Hold On earthquake drills, and the Standard Response Protocols for building emergencies.
See more photos on the MSD Facebook page!
When the fire alarm rings, students quickly and quietly line up.
They know to keep their voices down in the hallways while evacuating.
They move to their designated area outside and teachers indicate when all students are present.

A Habit for Success
Did you know that creating good attendance habits right from the start can carry over into high school, college and the working world? Learning to show up every day matters for all grade levels – beginning with pre-K!
Click for tips on how to set a good attendance pattern for the year by creating a smooth morning routine.
Track your bus!
Download the FirstView app to track the progress of your student’s school bus on both morning and afternoon routes. Families can set custom alerts to notify them when the bus is getting close and track routes for students headed to different schools.
Free Training on Handling Problematic Behaviors
Dealing with challenging behaviors from your child (or teen) can be difficult for any parent. Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) is used in MSD classrooms and can be helpful when also used at home.
Parents can learn how to use CPS in a free, eight-week training series offered through the Riverview Center for Growth (formerly known as the Child Center). The training is offered both online and in person.
Click for more information and upcoming training dates.

Thank you to Grocery Outlet for running a promotion last July to benefit the Family Resource Center. Pictured (from left) MSD’s David Cano and Mike and Dani McGinty.
