Principal Message
Dear Sequoia Families,
We are half through our first official week of distance learning. Teachers have worked hard to create learning opportunities for your child that are engaging, fun and grade level appropriate. Staff and I are checking in every week to answer questions, share ideas and calibrate expectations. As questions come up for you, please reach out to your child's teacher and we will work to find out answers, solve problems and make this work as easily as possible for your family. The district will be sending out a survey to families asking for feedback on our first week of distance learning to find out what additional support you may need. Be looking for that soon.
Student safety is a top priority at all times, and this includes internet safety. Our district uses Securly as a cloud based web filter. This ensures that students aren't able to access websites that are deemed inappropriate for children. During distance learning, when your child is logged on to a device using their RVUSD email account, we are notified if they try to access sites that may be blocked. This is important for you to know for two reasons: 1) We are committed to your child's internet safety, even during distance learning. 2) If you are sharing devices as a family, it is important that your child logs out of their RVUSD account before other family members use the device.
Our entire staff hopes you are doing well and adjusting to this new platform for learning. We are learning as we go and we know you are too! Although this is challenging and not the end of the year we expected or hoped for, I have heard positive stories from parents and staff about the various ways that we are all learning new things, finding ways to connect, and continuing to try to find the good in this situation. Please know we will continue to look for ways we can support you in the implementation of distance learning!
