Sexuality Education
For People With Developmental Disabilities
The ARC of Oakland County & The Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council present...
A *free* virtual workshop for families to get information!
Families play a crucial role in the lives of youth and individuals with significant disabilities. They are often the first and most consistent influence a person with a disability will have. Families are responsible for supporting people to age into responsible adults. For many families, their youth’s transition to adulthood is an uncertain time.
Join us for a presentation and open discussion with self-advocates, family members and staff who work with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Get facts and learn the importance of discussing sexuality with all youth.
Following this opportunity, participants will:
- Get factual, statistical information
- Hear about the importance of teaching sexuality to all
- Learn how education is used as a safety tool
- Get tips to address this topic with family members and peers
- Have information to help your loved one register for upcoming educational opportunities
Increase your skill and comfort level when addressing sexuality with people with developmental disabilities. Join us for this interactive presentation by staff of DD Council Teams and self-advocates teaching within teams, on Tuesday January 18, 2022 from 6pm-7:30pm.
