How Do You Think?
Does Language Influence Thinking?
Do you find yourself feeling like two different people while speaking?
Whorf's Hypothesis
The theory that language influences and determines thinking or the thinking process, is hard to find accurate. None the less, by looking at language grammatically, structurally, and translating them, psychologists have found that language can indeed persuade the mind.
New York Times Magazine
"Even when the nomenclature is technically correct, the choice of words influences our therapeutic thinking: for example, the bones in osteoporosis are indeed porous, but other important risk factors for fracture (like weakness or poor vision) are inappropriately obscured by the very name of the condition."
Tohidian, I., & Mir Tabatabaie, S. M.
“Languages differ not so much as to what can be said in them, but rather as to what it is relatively easy to say”
Sidnell, J., & Enfield, N. J.
"Boas argued that these differences were consequential not so much for what they allowed a speaker to say as for what they required a speaker to say."
