Ecological Foot print
human impact project
what is a footprint and who does it effect ?
The simplest way to define ecological footprint would be to call it the impact of human activities measured in terms of the area of biologically productive land and water required to produce the goods consumed and to assimilate the wastes generated. More simply, it is the amount of the environment necessary to produce the goods and services necessary to support a particular lifestyle.
What i use and how it hurts the enviorment.
My ecological foot print says that if everyone in the world lived exactly like me..., as in they consume the same about of food, shelter, mobility, and services. we will need 7.8 planet Earths to supply enough resources for everyone to live. The part of my foot print that has the greatest impact is my shelter but I came to the conclusion, yes.. living in a big building is bad for the enviorment but if the populatoin continues to grow at the rate its growing then we are going to need these buildings for people to live in them. So my solution is to change my mobility which is the next biggest thing used by me.
How will my solution works?
I understand that traveling is very import. Weather your going to work or vacation you wan't to be able to travel and get there in time. All I sudgest is the following * DonĀ“t drive when there is an alternative! Walk, bike, or take public transport whenever possible. If you don't own and drive a car on average you can reduce your total ecological footprint by as much as 20 per cent. Using it less will reduce your footprint, helps to avoid traffic jam and keeps your citys air cleaner.
* If you need a car make it a small as possible one and reduce the mileage. Smaller, and mainly smaller-engined, cars are usually much more energy efficient than larger ones.
* Check your car regularly. Have your vehicle serviced regularly to keep the emission control systems operating at peak efficiency. Check your car's air filter monthly, and keep the tires adequately inflated to maximize gas mileage. If you'll be waiting for more than 30 seconds, turn off the engine (except in traffic)

by doing just this we can reduce the resources needed by 2.2 planets. THIS IS JUST A START.

This is NOT my company but I took a look at all of their information and they can be very helpful.
