Recent Updates:
Eastern Standard Time/Day Light Saving Time – CHECK CLOCKS
- On Monday, November 6, 2022, all schools will be operating on Eastern Standard Time.Don't forget to send your clocks back by one hour.
Panorama Survey
- We need your feedback as our biannual Panorama Survey is underway now! We are asking each family, student, and staff member to complete the survey. The links to the surveys are posted on our website. Parents can also expect to receive information from their child’s school in the following days. Your students will likely hear about it in class, but as always, we remind parents you do have the option to notify your child’s school if you do not want your child to participate. In response to North Carolina’s Parent’s Bill of Rights legislation, this year’s survey is shorter and does not ask questions that deal with personal student emotion.
- Parent, student, and staff participation in this survey is helpful as it is the best way to help the district make decisions using your input and feedback as the guide.
EOG Changes
- Starting this year, information from the N.C. Check-Ins, given throughout the year, will be used to assign EOG test forms for students. In other words, NC DPI will analyze the Check-In scores and students who didn’t score well on the Check-Ins will be assigned a form that starts off with easier items. Students who scored middle of the road will be assigned the regular EOG test form. Students who scored well on the NC Check-Ins will be assigned a form that starts with more difficult items. Students who don’t have two NC Check-Ins scores for a particular subject will receive the regular EOG test form.
- There are a set of common items that all students will receive on all test forms.
- The number of questions and the test administration is the same for all.
- Students can score any achievement level (5,4,3, or not proficient) on the final test, regardless of the test form they end up using.
- Multiple districts have piloted this method and NC DPI says the benefit of the different testing forms provides students with a more personalized assessment based on their ability.
Report Cards & How to Check Your Students Grades
- We have just completed the first week of the second quarter. Report Cards will go home on November 8th.
- If you have any questions about setting up your PowerSchool Parent Portal to check grades daily please call the school and ask to speak to Ms. Sharp, our data manager.
- Parents/Guardians-your students can also show you their grades. All our students have been taught how to check their grades using their computer, so ask them to show you their grades every week.
