Windsor Middle School
9/4/20 Announcements
No School on Monday, September 7th
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 8th, Doors Open @ 8:15am
After a couple weeks of evaluating and monitoring current practices and systems, we have found that our morning screening process is not taking nearly as long as we originally thought it would. Therefore, starting after Labor Day, on Tuesday, September 8, we will start screening students at 8:15. 8:15 will also become our new drop-off time. With the school day starting at 8:35, we have determined that 20 minutes will give us a sufficient amount of time to get students screened and to their first hour class. Please do not drop your child off prior to 8:15 as there will be no adult supervision or access to the school building.
Thank you for your support, understanding and patience through this change.
Attendance for Asynchronous/Off-Campus Learning
We have been working together as a district to determine how to take attendance during asynchronous/off-campus learning. You may have noticed your student’s attendance marked as AVP (Absent Virtual Participation - Virtual Participation not Verified) on their asynchronous/off-campus learning days. This is a "place-holder" until the teacher determines your child's attendance, usually using their assignment for the day.
As a reminder, it is important for students to "attend" all of their classes on asynchronous/off-campus days. This is accomplished by those students completing their assignments on time, and submitting them through Canvas to their teachers. Teachers will be using their time during Wednesday afternoons reviewing the previous week's assignments, and will update your child's attendance at that time. If your student has not been completing and turning in their off-campus learning assignments, they will be marked absent. Off-campus learning days are regular school days, and do count towards district attendance policies. Students are expected to participate in the learning assigned to them during these days.
Thank you for your time. If you have any questions, you may contact Joshua Cox, our Dean of Students, at 970-686-8219, or via email at joshua.cox@weldre4.org
