Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter
Friday, February 19, 2021
Message from the Principal:
Hasn't 2020 ended already? Weren't we supposed to leave all that negativity in the previous calendar year? Unfortunately, this week the weather has conspired with the pandemic to disrupt our carefully laid plans. Since we have shifted to four days, we have not gotten to enjoy a full week yet! The continuity of instruction has never been this disjointed.
After seeing the impact these snow days have been having, we wish to make parents aware that during all future snow days at the Junior-Senior High, teachers will provide synchronous instruction. There have been far too many disruptions to the educational process and we are committed to doing all we can to reduce them; students can learn and complete their work in the morning with the help of teachers, and then go outside and enjoy the snow in the afternoons.
On to more uplifting news - Drama Club is back! Many of our artistic students have missed theater performances due to the pandemic. Our staff have worked hard and creatively to put a plan in place to have a spring production. The plan prioritizes safety, but still allows kids to have fun and express themselves. If you know your child (or their friends) might be interested in participating, please see the flyer below for audition information.
On Thursday night, parents of 8th graders were given an orientation for high school. If you are one of those parents but were unable to attend, you can find the presentation below. Mr. Gravina, our curriculum director, is available to answer any lingering questions you may have.
Have a great weekend and stay warm!
In partnership,
Dr. Vivadelli

News from the School Nurse
Health screenings will be starting soon for hybrid students. Scoliosis screenings are required every other year starting in 5th grade. If you prefer your child to NOT be screened for scoliosis, please contact me at kdreger@woodburysch.com or at 856-853-0123 ext. 250 as soon as possible. A note can also be sent in with your child stating that you do not give permission for a scoliosis screening to be performed by the school nurse.
Stay tuned for upcoming information regarding scheduling health screenings for our fully remote students...coming soon!
If your child is in need of an eye exam, and does not have vision insurance, please contact me. I have vouchers for a free eye exam AND a free pair of glasses (if needed) from several participating eye doctors. The vouchers do expire, and are available on a first come, first-served basis.
· ATTENTION PARENTS OF 5TH GRADE STUDENTS: Once your child turns eleven, please make an appointment with your child’s primary healthcare provider to have the Tdap and Meningitis vaccine administered. These are required in order to START 6th grade. Failure to do so, can result in exclusion from school as per N.J.A.C. 8:57-4. This is also a good time to obtain an updated physical exam if your child has not recently been seen by his/her primary care provider.
· If your child(ren) have recently returned to school from being fully remote, and he/she has ANY medical condition (asthma, food allergy, diabetes, seizure disorder, etc), please contact me as soon as possible. It may be necessary to have plans completed by your medical provider so that I can provide the best possible care to your child.
· As always, please feel free to reach out to me at any time. I am typically in the building Monday – Friday from 7:30 am until 3:30 pm. The health and safety of your child(ren) is of utmost importance to me, and I thank you for allowing me to care for them during the school day.
