Note From The Principal's Desk

Hello Giants!

We are halfway through Part I of the ISTEP+ test. We have more students who will be taking it next week, so please make sure your child get’s a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast! It is hard to believe, but we have about two weeks left of the third quarter! Be sure to be checking Jupiter for grades and be in communication with the teachers with any successes or concerns. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if I can help in any way!

Our Lenten journey. Our Catholic community in the U.S. does something amazing each Lent. We come together to practice prayer, fasting and almsgiving—and by doing so we help lift families and communities out of poverty and put them on a path toward resilience, prosperity and stability. That’s the CRS Rice Bowl effect.

This week, the students brought home CRS (Catholic Relief Service) Rice Bowls. CRS, as the official overseas humanitarian agency of the U.S. Catholic Church works in 112 countries, helping over 121 million people a year. It is through the Rice Bowl funds that we help development programs in many poor countries around the world. Projects include clean drinking water for vulnerable communities, seeds and training support to help farmers improve harvests, and health exams and treatment support for children. And because our U.S. Catholic Church believes we need to love our neighbors both locally and globally, 25% of Rice Bowl funds raised in our parishes and schools is returned to the diocese to be used as Matthew 25 Rice Bowl Grants to help alleviate poverty and hunger in our archdiocesan area. Through this tradition, we have helped families around the world and in our own backyard by raising our voices and our prayers and by making sacrificial gifts. Learn more at crsricebowl.org.

Notes From The Music Room

Irish Concert:

Primary and intermediate students are looking forward to the 2nd annual ‘Holy Name Irish Concert’!

Due to Stations of the Cross we have moved this concert to Wednesday March 14th.

The concert will start at 2pm.


We are moving the end of year Musicale concert to Wednesday May 16th (no longer Friday May 11th).

After school rehearsals: Tuesday May 8th & Wednesday May 9th 6:30-7:30pm (JCPC)

Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday May 16th at 1:00pm

Performance: Wednesday May 16th 7:00pm

Performers: 5th-8th grade, Guitar Club, and Alumni Band

Extended Care News

A gentle reminder that Extended Care is a pre-pay program, check your child’s balance and pay accordingly.

Important: Fridays during Lent Extended Care will be in the JCPC and the parents may pick up their children there.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Candy Donation time is here again! We are collecting bags of small, individually wrapped candy to be used to fill the eggs for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Please consider grabbing a bag when you are out and sending it to the school office. Marked down Valentine's Day candy works great! Thank you for your generosity.

Possible Tax Deduction

Qualify for an Education Expense Deduction – If you have a dependent child enrolled in K-12 private school or who is home-schooled, you may qualify for a deduction based on education expenditures for that child. Expenditures include tuition, fees, textbooks, and school supplies. If you are eligible, this deduction is $1,000 per qualified dependent. Little Giants Basketball

Saturday is game day!!

We will pay extra attention this week to the 1st and 2nd grade court to make sure that court runs smooth. I thought all went pretty well last week and I know this weekend, it will go even better!


Good luck to all of our teams as we enter post season tournaments!!


Spring sports include softball for girls 6th-8th grade, kickball for girls 3rd-8th grade, track (St. Jude) for boys and girls 3rd-8th grade.

All registrations are open, please register as soon as you can.

Track & Field Info Meeting - Friday, March 9th 6:30pm – St. Jude Cafeteria

Open to all 3rd thru 8th grade girls and boys. If you cannot make the meeting you can pick up information from Mr. Kitchens or info can be emailed. Practices are Monday – Thursday evenings at Roncalli High School. We have no required practice attendance, come to practice as your schedule permits. If you are not a runner, CYO offers many field events. There is an event for everyone. THE DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED! You can register at http://cyoarchindy.org.

For the past 46 years, administrative assistant Mrs. Donna Smith has greeted everyone who has visited Roncalli High School with a warm and friendly smile. In addition to her front office duties, she also has held the roles of cheerleading moderator and ticket taker at sporting events. Smith will be retiring at the end of February. All are invited to attend a reception in her honor on Friday, March 9th from 3:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Roncalli Media Center. If you are unable to attend, cards or notes of appreciation may be sent to the high school.

Roncalli is excited to welcome the Class of 2022 next fall!

As a reminder, the Application for Admission is now available online at www.roncalli.org. To access the registration site, please click the text that reads "Complete Admission Application Online" underneath the scrolling photos. Once the application is complete and the $100 registration fee is received, you may continue the registration process. For those who have not been in a South Deanery Catholic grade school for grades seven and eight, those next steps will include scheduling an admissions interview for Saturday, January 20 (limited space available). For all others, it will be scheduling your appointment to meet with your student's counselor to create their freshman year schedule.

Summer Sports Camps

Roncalli High School will again offer many different sport camps this summer for elementary age student athletes currently in grades K-8. These camps are conducted by members of the Rebel coaching staff and serve to provide fundamental instruction in each sport as well as a wonderful opportunity to have fun in a friendly and nourishing environment.
