The Fowler Weekly

October 25-29

Dear Fowler Family,

We are excited to connect families with our staff this week as we host our virtual conferences. Families, please look in your email inbox for a communication and sign up link from your student’s morning meeting teacher. Conference slots are 20 minutes in length and students will present what they are proud of and what their goals are in each of their classes. As always, please feel free to reach out via email or phone to Fowler staff at any point if you would like to talk more about your student’s progress in any specific class. More information on conferences is listed below.

We are also excited to announce that we will begin having in person concerts/performances starting after November 2nd. There will be limitations to these events of course, but we are really excited that we will be able to host these events in the very near future.

Have a great week Fowler!

Students may dress up for Halloween on Wednesday, October 27. It will be a normal school day. There ARE a few guidelines that must be followed:

  • Costumes must be comfortable and allow for all classroom activities without disruption.

  • You must be able to participate in all regular school activities.

  • Fabric face masks must be worn just like we require now.

  • Any additional face coverings should not cover any more of the face than a standard facemask would.

Items to keep at home:

  • Fake weapons (knives, swords, guns, etc.)

  • Masks

  • Fake blood

  • Inflatable costumes or accessories

  • Face Paint

We look forward to seeing what our creative students show up in!

The last Jamboree for Fall ASA is this week:

  • Wednesday, October 27, Fowler will travel to Hazelbrook for a Soccer Jamboree. The Jamboree will begin at 3:35pm and run until 5:05pm. Students WILL NEED A RIDE HOME when they return to Fowler. Students may be picked up at Hazelbrook after the Jamboree, just be sure to check them out with the coach.

There will NOT be ASA this Wednesday, except for the Jamboree, in order to allow teachers time to get dinner prior to conferences. Next Week, November 1-4 will be the last week of Fall ASA.

The library now has a Canvas page! This is not a class. It is not graded. And it is not mandatory, but it could be fun! Participation will enter a student into a raffle. Every month new assignments will be added to the page. All students have to do to enter the raffle is complete at least one assignment. These assignments are fun activities involving books, crafts, and other things that get the creative juices flowing.

  • Each assignment completed is one entry into the raffle.

  • Each grade level will have two winners.

  • Prizes include tokens and a movie time during lunch in the library.

Winners will be announced at the beginning of each month. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Ahtoong,, in the library.

Picture Retakes are scheduled for Wednesday, November 3. Retakes are available for anyone that was not present on Picture Day (September 16) and anyone who did not care for their first round of pictures. If a picture packet was purchased, simply send it back to school that day with your child and they will give it to the photographer when they get their picture taken. If you would like to purchase pictures this time around, click here and follow the instructions.

Fall Conferences are Wednesday & Thursday, October 27th & 28th. Conferences will be virtual with students’ Morning Meeting teacher.

There is NO SCHOOL this Thursday, October 28 or Friday, October 29.

We need your help to make the conference experience go smoothly for all. Please read the information below. We appreciate your help and look forward to seeing you for conferences next week.

  • Teachers may have back to back conferences so will need to hold tight to scheduled conference times.

  • Join your conference right at the scheduled time. Google Meets forces a teacher to accept or deny entry to the meeting. If the teacher is in another conference when you try to join, they will need to “deny your entry” if you request to join early. If this happens, wait until your scheduled time begins and attempt to join the meet again. They will not be able to let you in until they are done with the conference before yours.

  • If you still have questions after conferences, please reach out via email or phone. We want to stay connected and keep open lines of communication.

  • If you need help finding your conference, call the main office at (503)431-5000.

  • If you need translation services and did not indicate that when you signed up for conferences, contact Ana Patlan Gutierrez,, prior to Wednesday, October 27th.

It is NOT too late to sign up conferences! If you have not already signed up for a conference with your student’s Morning Meeting teacher, please check your email for a message from your student’s Morning Meeting teacher. Please call the office, 503-431-5000, if you have any trouble signing up and we will be glad to help you.

Counselors, as well as the Dean of Students, are available during conferences. If you have any questions or concerns please sign up for a virtual meeting with them using the links below:

MR. KNIPE - Dean of Students

MRS. CUMMINGS - 6th Grade Counselor

MR. PENNY - 7th Grade Counselor

MR. SIMONOFF - 8th Grade Counselor

Remember, the format of conferences is virtual, student-led (your student needs to be present with you) and will be hosted by your student’s Morning Meeting teacher.

For clarification, there are four tabs for each teacher, one for each session of conferences. If you tried to sign up and it said all slots were full, please return and make sure you have checked all of the tabs. Here is a picture of the tabs at the top of the sign-up area:
