Respectful, Responsible and Safe - September 30, 2022
NOVEMBER 18, 2022
Hello John Marshall Families!
This past week was American Education Week, and I’d like to share how thankful we at John Marshall are for the amazingly supportive families and neighbors we have here. We are so fortunate to have a supportive neighborhood group who provides donations and volunteers, Pilgrim Church, who goes above and beyond to provide weekend food and meals over breaks to support John Marshall families, and our students and their families, who donate food and supplies whenever the call goes out to help our school and students. I also want to call out our staff, who also answer the call to serve and provide whenever asked too!
Also, as we head into the winter season, please plan to send your child with a winter coat, boots, snow pants, gloves/mittens, and a hat each day as we hold outdoor recess as long as it is above zero. If you need assistance getting these warm, winter clothes, please contact your child’s teacher or our School Social Worker, Mrs. Graf (jgraf@wausauschools.org) and we can assist you in ensuring your child has what he or she needs.
We wish you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Ms. Amanda Patterson

PTO Corner
We are so lucky at John Marshall to have such a supportive PTO! The PTO helps us to support our educational and whole child goals at John Marshall by funding enrichment activities and materials for students, and ensuring our teachers are supported to do their best work. We are looking for adults who care about our John Marshall school community to help us continue the great tradition of having a supportive PTO who helps make great things happy for students, staff, and our families.
Our next meeting will be on Monday, December 5th at 6:00pm.
If you have any questions about our PTO, please contact Ms. Patterson in the office (715-261-0060). It would be great to have you join us!
Wausau School District
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR WSD SCHOOL BUS
STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS
Occasionally, weather-related road conditions within our School District may vary
drastically depending on location. For instance, weather and road conditions may allow
those students who live in or near the city or on county trunk roads (the lettered county
roads) to arrive at school with little or no trouble. Certain rural, secondary roads may,
however, simultaneously be impassable or dangerous for buses to travel. In this event,
the District will only run buses in the city, on county trunk roads, and rural roads, which
are safe for travel.
Should this situation occur, District and First Student officials will determine which areas
are unsafe for bus travel. The District will attempt to announce via television and radio
the particular areas that are affected.
If the school bus is unable to pickup the student and parents are unable to transport their
child(ren) to school because of road conditions, Wausau School District students will
receive an excused absence from the District provided the parent/guardian notifies the
school. Parents of private school students will need to follow the administrative
guidelines for their school.
