K-12 Fall Parent Info Night October 28th - You Need to be there (and bring your friends)

Traders Point has taken amazing steps forward in the past year and we are still on the move! We want everyone to know what's new and coming down the pike. Each fall and spring we host a parent info night to answer your questions and fill you in on plans for next semester and beyond. Faculty from all grade levels and secondary content areas are here to talk with you about what your child can look forward to in 2015-2016. Hear the latest on academic and new facility plans from Head of School, Ron Evans. Attend info sessions about financial aid, athletics, guidance services and more.

Plan NOW to attend our K - 12 Parent Information Night this semester on Tuesday, October 28th at 6:30 pm. This is also a great time to bring your friends and neighbors with you. All those folks who asked you about TPCA and want to learn more. Remember...we offer a $300 referral fee for each K-12 student you refer who enrolls.

New Homecoming Tradition: King David & Queen Esther

Most folks probably recall Homecoming traditions from high school, including the King and Queen. Often a popularity contest, yes? TPCA is starting a new tradition with our own God honoring version of Homecoming King and Queen! Staff will vote for up to 4 ladies and 4 gentlemen per grade in HS. The students will vote from the top four to select 1 lady and 1 gentleman per grade to form the Homecoming court (announced at chapel this Thursday) with the King and Queen announced and crowned at the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 3. We are using the criteria below based on King David and Queen Esther in scripture. Amazing students that will fill these shoes!

Queen Esther criteria: Beauty and grace, both inside and out; Courage to stand up for what is right; Boldness to proclaim truth and the good news; Discretion: discover God's will and desire to follow Him no matter the cost.

King David criteria: "man after God's own heart"; Upright: willing to stand with integrity; Brave: to battle for right and defend the weak; Humble: Admit to wrong and desire God's will in his life.

One Guess who are the Indiana State Reading Champions? We are!!

This past summer TPCA teachers Mrs. Beth Herr and Mrs. Lisa Mais ran a summer reading club for our elementary students through the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. The goal was for schools around the world to break the 2013 reading world record of 176,438,473 minutes!

Well...not only did our students do a fantastic job and became better readers, but TPCA had the highest number of reading minutes in the state of Indiana! That's right - Number One in the entire state!! We will be receiving a banner with our total minutes (210,743) and stating that our students were number 1 in the state!!!! Congratulations students and leaders Mrs. Herr and Mrs. Mais. We are so proud of you all!

Bump Days are Coming - What's that you say?

Bump Days are special days set aside for students in grades 4/4+ - 8th to visit their next grade up. Checking out the fun that is coming next year. So 1st grade spends some time in 2nd, 6th with a 7th grader, and such. We plan these at various times during the year, and we are really intentional about helping our kiddos get a great look at next year. Most grades "bump" in the second semester. But our 8th graders "bump" this semester, in three groups on October 1, 8 & 15. We've matched them up with 9th grade students and plan a great day for them to experience high school at Traders Point.

So watch for details throughout the year as your child's "Bump Day" comes up. It is always exciting and a highlight! If you have any questions just contact Mrs. Kanzler.

College Go! Week - Alma Maters Matter!

This week, Sept 22-26, is Indiana's College Go! Week. Developed and supported by LearnMoreIndiana.org, It's a week of emphasizing the need for post-secondary education at all grade levels. So what's happening at TPCA for this? Mrs. Harris, Guidance Counselor, is sharing daily announcements regarding college information/fun facts, providing info on scholarship and poster competitions, classroom activities and a "show off their favorite college by wearing a t-shirt or sweatshirt " day on Wednesday. It's never to early or too late to encourage our children to reach for their highest potential!
