Trojan basketball season opens

On Friday, November 29, the Trojans hosted the Deshler Tigers and walked away with wins for both the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys with final scores of 69-58 and 62-58, respectively.

Trojan swimmers represent

Abby Newton and Abby Grace Summers represented Muscle Shoals High School in the North Sectional Swim Meet. Both swimmers swam their personal bests in their respective races. Abby Newton advanced to the state meet, which will be held on December 6th and 7th. She will be swimming the 200 and 500 free.

Band Christmas Concert Tuesday

MSHS & MSMS concert bands will perform a Christmas concert at the Stratford Auditorium on Tuesday, December 2nd with middle school bands performing at 6PM and the high school bands performing at 7:30PM. Admission is FREE!

Miracle on 34th Street, Dec. 9 @ 7PM

Join us at the MSHS-Stratford Auditorium as the Drama & Choral Department presents Miracle on 34th Street: The Play. Show time is 7:00 p.m.

Jackson Bratton named finalist for Butkus Award

Muscle Shoals linebacker and Alabama commit Jackson Bratton remains in contention to win the 2019 high school Dick Butkus Award.

The Butkus Foundation announced the five national finalists for the award on November 25, and Bratton is the only Alabama player and only player from the Deep South among them.

Picture Makeups

Senior portrait make-ups will be December 11th during the school day. Mrs. Vaughn will send out a schedule and personally notify each senior.

What to Bring: Check (made out to Joseph Romans) or cash for $35 for the sitting fee.


Make up pictures for grades 9-11 will be on December 11th during school.

LifeSouth Blood Drive Wednesday

MSHS anatomy classes will host a LifeSouth blood drive on Wednesday, December 4 in the high school library. If you have questions, contact anatomy teacher Holly Brooks at hbrooks@mscs.k12.al.us.

Pre-Registration for 2020-2021 COMING SOON!

The December 19th newsletter will contain information regarding pre-registration of courses for the 2020-2021 school year. Be on the lookout! Parents and students should use the Christmas break and early January to review this information and have meaningful discussions about class selections. Toward the end of January, guidance counselors will begin meeting with students individually for advisement and course selection.

Balfour will take cap/gown orders on Tuesday, Dec. 3

Balfour will be at MSHS on Tuesday, December 3, to begin taking orders for caps and gowns. Your senior should have brought home a packet of information. You may also pick one up in the guidance office. For more information, visit balfour.com, click "Shop My School," search for Muscle Shoals High School, and click "Graduation." From there, click "Graduation Products."

Student of the Year DEADLINE is Dec. 6

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT JUST FOR STUDENTS CONSIDERING GOING TO NORTHWEST-SHOALS COMMUNITY COLLEGE. It's open to all.

Students interested in being considered for Muscle Shoals High School "Student of the Year" for 2019-2020 may pickup an application in the guidance office. A copy of the application will also be emailed to students.


DEADLINE TO APPLY IS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6. Applications may be turned in to Mrs. Wagnon in the main office or Mrs. Veal in the guidance office.


Applications will be reviewed in December. The school's selection committee will hold interviews in January to choose our nominee. That MSHS Student of the Year will be nominated to the Shoals Scholar Dollars committee by January 31.

The Student of the Year program is sponsored by Shoals Scholar Dollars. The program is designed to recognize outstanding students from each Shoals area high school. All students in grades 9-12 are eligible. All local school nominees will be honored at an April 23 banquet at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center, and the Shoals Area Student of the Year will be named.

Remember that all 11th graders across Alabama will take the ACT (paid for by the state) on March 10. Individual registration for this test is not necessary. MSHS will take care of registering all juniors for the March 10 test.

Christmas Break is just around the corner

Believe it or not, the fall semester is rapidly coming to a close. There are only 10 instructional days remaining at MSHS plus review day and final exams.

Monday, December 16 is the last day attendance will be recorded. Students may check-out of school WITH A PARENT NOTE. On Tuesday & Wednesday, students report only to the blocks of time where an exam is to be taken.
