OUR STORY - Shout Outs!
Highlighting Wilson County Schools (WCS)
CELEBRATING OUR INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE DATA!!!!!
The state officially released accountability data yesterday, and our results are INCREDIBLE!! Click here to read more! "We want to celebrate the dedication and hard work of every staff member who went above and beyond for students," said Superintendent Dr. Lane Mills. "Our students should be proud of their outstanding performance. Our district has made great progress, and we know it will continue!"
Braydon Wells & Christy Proctor
A few weeks ago, we recognized Braydon, a kindergartner at New Hope ES, for asking guests at his birthday party to bring school supplies for needy students instead of gifts for him. His generosity caught the attention of Chick-fil-A Owner/Operator Christy Proctor, and she invited Braydon to a complimentary dinner, tour of the restaurant and playtime. Ms. Proctor also contributed to Braydon's school supply drive!
Why I Teach - Leigh Anne Orr
"I am a Math Teacher at Elm City MS and the 2018-19 WCS Teacher of the Year! I graduated from Fike HS and Barton College. When students enter my room, I want it to be like a home to them. From the first day, they know that FAIL is a First Attempt in Learning and to try again. I am the teacher I am today because of the wonderful influences of not only my mom, but also of all the wonderful teachers I had in Wilson as a student." Read more here!
WCS Courier Team
Cameron Farmer and Gerod Walthall are the BEST! Winstead ES Principal Claudia Spencer wanted to thank them for carrying a Chromebook cart upstairs for the 4th and 5th graders. They didn't believe her when she told them her school had an upstairs! The WCS Public Relations Dept. also wants to thank them for loading and delivering hundreds of backpacks left over after Operation Backpack to our schools!
Rock Ridge ES Shows Support
The staff at Barnes ES would like to thank the staff at Rock Ridge for thinking of them after the loss of one of their students. Rock Ridge provided snacks to show their support during this difficult time. Please consider making a donation to support the family of Jaymi Renteria Sanchez.
