Registration Begins Next Week

This message is going out to all parents and families to let you know the each of our schools sent out letters to parents with registration information. Please be looking for this letter that includes registration instructions in the next day or two. Registration will begin the week of August 17-21. Registration for all students is available online this year. Online registration should take 15-30 minutes. If you are unable to complete the online registration process, or need access to a computer, we will provide the opportunity for parents to register on-site. All on-site registrations for all three school will take place at Kennedy High School in the commons area, Wednesday August 19th and Thursday August 20th, 8:00 am – 7:00 pm. Spanish assistance will be available. COVID-19 distancing and safety measures will be in place. Face coverings are required, and will be available on-site.

Proof of Residency Now Requirement for Registration

This year all new and returning families will be required to provide copies of two pieces of proof of residency. Proof of residency may be a utility bill, rental/mortgage document, driver’s license or other document from last 30 days that includes your name and residence address. This is a new annual requirement for all new and returning families. These documents can be sent to the schools by fax, email or dropped off at the front door at each school. Drop off hours for each school are 7:30 am-3:30 pm, Monday-Friday.

Schools Will Share Draft Schedules with Parents on Friday

Mt. Angel School District Principals will be releasing their draft schedules on Friday August 14th. They have considered as many as a dozen schedules to find one for each building that works best for students and staff as we prepare for distanced learning this fall. These "draft" schedules are designed to hold strong when student and/or staff are required to shift between on-site and distanced instruction.

Calendar for the 2020-2021 School Year Has Changed

Mt. Angel School Board approved a revised calendar for the 2020-2021 school year at their regular board meeting on Monday, August 10th. You can find the new calendar on our website here:

School for students will officially start on Monday, September 21st. This will allow for staff to learn new systems and tools to teach from a distance. The district will also be providing training for parents on the new systems and tools.

Changes in the Learning Day from Last Spring

Below is an illustration that compares the expectations for teaching and learning from last spring, to what the expectations will be when school begins September 21st. The expectations for staff, students and parents will be very different with increased hours of instruction and accountability.

Parent Survey is Still Open

Parents were sent a survey this week to provide guidance for the district and schools as the complete their planning for the rapidly approaching school year. If you have not completed the survey yet, please follow this link and provide valuable feedback.

Mt. Angel Schools Provide Grab-N-Go Meals Through the Summer

Free and healthy "Grab-n-Go" breakfast/lunches are available for children and teens between the ages of 1 – 18 years old. Students and/or families can stop by St. Mary’s Public Elementary School located at 590 E. College Street in Mt. Angel between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., Monday -Friday. The "Grab-n-Go" breakfast/lunch program will continue through August 21st. The district is planning to continue providing meals for families beginning September 8th. More details to come as planning is finalized.
