Important Information
First Day of School
- Starting the first day, students should line up outside behind the school at their teacher's designated spot. We will post signs to help students and parents find the correct line.
- As a reminder, students should not arrive before 8:30 a.m. unless they are eating breakfast. Outside supervision begins at 8:30. When students arrive at school, they should line up at their class's designated spot. The first bell rings at 8:45 a.m., which is when classes are brought inside by their teachers. The tardy bell rings at 8:50 a.m. Students who are tardy will need to check in at the office before heading to class.
- Breakfast begins at 8:15 a.m. Students who eat breakfast at school should enter the cafeteria doors on the south side of the building. When they are finished eating breakfast, students will exit those same doors and will walk around the building to line up with their classmates.
- We have arranged for plenty of supervision to help students know where to line up, go to breakfast, etc. Please remind your students to look for adults who are wearing yellow safety vests. Those vests identify safe adults for students to go to for help.
- We are following our early out schedule on Monday, August 22, so school will let out at 1:25 p.m. Please set up a meeting spot or walking route ahead of time with your student. We will help our busing students get on the right bus. Make sure your students know where the bus will drop them off and how to get home from their drop off location.
Drop Off and Pick Up (Updated Map)
Please note there has been an important change to the map! Two additional bus routes have been added to our school, and we now have 11 buses dropping off and picking up students each day. Both loops to the south of our school are now designated bus lanes in order to fit all buses. No cars are allowed in these loops.
- The only exception is for students with medical needs such as wheelchairs, etc. These families have been given permission to use the bus loop to help their students access the school more easily. We have created car signs for these families. These signs must be visible/hanging from rearview mirror in order to pull into the loop.
Busing
- Log into your myDSD guardian account.
- Click on Tools.
- Click on Bus/Transportation information.
- You will be able to see pick up and drop off times and locations along with the assigned bus number.
All K-3 students will receive a colored bus pass which will be attached to their backpacks. Each bus has been assigned a color. The bus passes will coordinate with the students' assigned buses and will help us get our students on the right bus.
Community Council
We are currently in the process of filling openings for this year's Community Council. We have four openings, and we would like to encourage you to consider serving!
The Community Council is made up of teachers, parents, and administration who meet once each month. The attached letter gives additional information about the duties of the council. A copy of the application is linked below. You can also pick up an application from the school office. Applications are due in the school office by Friday, August 26. If needed, we will hold elections Monday, August 29 - Thursday, September 1.

School Supply Donations Lists
Many families have asked about school supplies they might donate at the beginning of the school year. These lists are now available on our webpage (bottom of homepage under News & Events) and were shared by many teachers at Back to School Night.
NOTICE: THE ITEMS ON THIS LIST WILL BE USED DURING THE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY. THEY MAY BE BROUGHT FROM HOME VOLUNTARILY; OTHERWISE, THEY WILL BE FURNISHED BY THE SCHOOL.
Items Needing Attention
Every year we are required to have parents and guardians review and electronically sign documents with important information. Please take time to log onto myDSD and sign the electronic documents before the school year begins. Thank you!
Background Checks
All parents and volunteers who go on field trips are required to have a completed background check through the district. Some grade levels have planned field trips for the fall. If you would like to help with field trips, we encourage you to make an appointment with our HR/fingerprinting department right away. Please call 801-402-5722 to set up an appointment.
