Wellfield Middle School Newsletter

24 April 2015

Dear Parents & Carers

Welcome back! I hope that you all had a relaxing Easter holiday and managed to enjoy the sunshine. We have a very busy half term ahead of us. Our Year 5 pupils are off to High Borrans in the Lake District and our Year 6 pupils have their National Tests during the second week in May. Look out for a letter with some additional information on the Y6 SATs next week.

We have a disco on Tuesday 5th May running from 6.30pm until 8pm. The school will be closed to pupils on Thursday 7th May as it is being used as a polling station. Sunday 17th May is the Greggs Cancer Run in Gosforth Park. I shall be running (the term running is possibly a little generous on my part) along with the pupils on Sunday. Anyone who wishes to join us is most welcome but you would need to get your forms in very quickly or you will miss out!

Adventures in Neverland

An exciting announcement for any budding performers. This summer's show is going to be Adventures in Neverland, based on Peter Pan. There will be opportunities for actors, singers, dancers, artists and stage hands to get involved.

Auditions for speaking roles will be held shortly. Dancing rehearsals will start shortly, no auditions are required to dance.

All pupils are encouraged to take part.

Music Lessons

Extra-curricular music lessons are available in guitar, brass, keyboard and steel pans. Spaces are filling up quickly so if you would like to attend any of these please see Miss Whittle for further information.

NTLT Star Awards

Congratulations to everyone who nominated a student for the NTLT Star Awards. Wellfield Middle has won the award for submitting the most nominations, with a staggering 133 nominations!!

Each class will be receiving a prize shortly.

Lego Club

Jack L is currently organising a trip to Woodhorn Colliery to visit the Brick Planet exhibition, look out for further details coming soon.

Sarah & Catherine play for county

A fantastic achievement by Sarah and Catherine, who played Football for the county on Tuesday Evening. Both girls have excelled this year for the school team and I hope they continue this when they leave us in July.

PE News

With the summer term upon us PE turns to outside sports for the next few weeks. Pupils will be participating in Rounders, Cricket, Tennis and many Athletic Events. Lets just hope the sun keeps shining for our summer sports.

Extracurricular activities

On our PE website there is a timetable of extracurricular sports your child can participate in. This term this will include Tennis, Cricket, Athletics, Cardio Gym, Netball, Girls Rugby and many more. Please encourage your child to watch out for notices and participate in an extracurricular activity.
