National Scholastic Art and Writing award-winning students
Saira Bhatti won a silver medal in the Scholastic Writing Awards for her poem “Jove and Juno.” She is the student of Candace Brobst, Lauren Pash won a silver medal in scholastic art for her photography art portfolio, “Dreamland.” She is the student of Christopher Barrett.
From OMS. LeeAnna Zagrodnik won Gold Medal in Scholastic Art for “Mollitious Indifference” in Ceramics & Glass and an American Visions Award. Her teacher is Kristi Robbins. Imaan Saeed won a Silver Medal in Scholastic Art for “Perpetual Obliqueness” in Mixed Media. Her teacher is Laura Wright.
One Teacher Technology Integrator from each building was recognized by JR Renna, Coordinator of Educational Technology, for outstanding use of technology in their classrooms this year as follows:

New Elementary School Bids Awarded
Parkland received more than 80 bids from contractors for elements related to building a new elementary school. Tonight, 19 contractors were awarded bids that total $26,899,298 to build the new school with plans to break ground in May.
Lisa Roth and Rob Cohen did not approve payments to Cyber Charter Schools noting that they are not in favor of the state mandate to pay bills of these failing schools.

David Kennedy gave the LCCC monthly report.
Carol Facchiano gave the Parkland Foundation report that Heintzelman Funeral Home pledged $30,000 in support of the PHS Post Prom, $10,000 for each of the next three years. She reminded people to purchase their tickets to this year's gala which will take place on May 7th.
Everyone commented on how wonderful the spring musical was at PHS.
Rich thanked the Board for their support of the new elementary school. Rob Cohen stated he was proud to serve on the Board who bought supplies, new buses and approved tax payer dollars to support the building of a new school this evening. He cited that those dollars will go a long way in supporting students and staff who are doing amazing things in this District.
