JN Tribe Update - May 18, 2020
Thanks for a GREAT school year, despite COVID-19!
End of Our 2019-2020 School Year
The end-of-year goal-line is in sight as the 2019-2020 school year draws to a close this coming week! As we all know, we have experienced significant success as a Jim Ned family this year and, of course, we have worked through tremendous challenges together as we experienced all-things-coronavirus this spring. Kudos to our students, parents, faculty & staff for a job very well done throughout this school year...no matter what came your way!
Roll Tribe!
JNHS Graduation 2020 - Time Changed to 9:00pm!
JNCISD is looking forward to celebrating our awesome class of 2020 in an in-person, outdoor Graduation Ceremony to be held on Friday, June 19th, at 9:00pm at our Jim Ned Indian Stadium. To beat the mid-June heat & to avoid as much sun in our eyes as possible, we recently changed our start time from 8:00pm to 9:00pm!
As we continue to operate within state & county COVID-19 restrictions, our graduation ceremony will only involve our graduates, their families, & necessary staff. By mandate from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), each graduate will be allowed 5 tickets to distribute to their family or close friends. Therefore, our graduation ceremony will not be open to the general public. Only those with official tickets will be allowed in the stadium area. We will screen all those with tickets prior to entering the stadium & will also socially-distance in the stadium seating areas.
Families of seniors will have randomly-assigned seats to help maintain a 6' distance. The seating for families of graduates will be on both sides of the stadium (home & visitor seating). Again, these restrictions are required for an outdoor graduation ceremony in the state of Texas.
Also, we have made arrangements with KTAB to livestream our graduation that evening, so please pass this along to anyone who would have liked to attend graduation but could not due to the restrictions or other reasons. Thanks!
We are very excited to come together in person to celebrate our seniors! And we are so proud of our seniors for plowing through the adversity of COVID-19! We know y'all have missed out on several special events, but we are determined to honor you through a graduation ceremony! We will keep y'all updated with any other unforeseen changes due to COVID-19.
Textbooks, Chromebooks, & Packets: Turn In This Week!
Chromebooks: Our technology staff will be at the High School from 9am-1pm Monday-Wednesday of this week to receive Chromebooks that were loaned to families to complete their work at home. For families who will be turning in textbooks at the campuses, you may also drop off your Chromebooks at the campus. But our preferred dropoff site for Chromebooks is at the high school where the Chromebooks were originally picked up. Thanks! Don't forget the charge cords!
Meal Service Continues Through Thursday May 21st!
Our meal service continues through this coming Thursday, May 21st!! What a blessing it has been to meet the physical needs of our students during our school closure! Special thanks to our awesome cafeteria staff who have faithfully prepared these meals for the past several months & to our coaches who have assisted with our meal delivery system! Well done!
"School @ Home" Concludes on Tuesday May 19th!
Parents, congratulations! The end of School @ Home for 2019-20 is in sight! We appreciate you partnering with our teachers to ensure our students continued to learn during the COVID-19 School Closure.
We also cannot express enough gratitude & appreciation for ALL that our teachers have done during this school closure. You have all risen to the occasion to continue providing an education to our students in incredibly unusual & challenging circumstances. Huge thanks for quickly adapting and making the best of our online instruction system. We ALL prefer to be together learning in-person & we are hopeful to return to doing that in the fall! But, with all that we've learned & experienced this spring, we will be ready for whatever may come our way!
We will conclude our "School @ Home" learning on Tuesday, May 19th. That's a few days earlier than our school year would have ended, but it represents our required 75,600 minutes for 2019-20! :-] Our teachers have already submitted their lasts assignments in our School @ Home system, including Google Classroom. So all that it is required of our students us to complete their remaining assignments on or before Tuesday, May 19th. Let's all FINISH STRONG!!
Welcome to our New Principals for 2020-2021
Congrats to each of these new JNCISD leaders!
Buffalo Gap Elementary Principal - Mrs. Alana McClure: Mrs. McClure comes to us from Colorado ISD & will serve as the new principal at BGES as Mrs. Doty begins her new role as Chief Academic Officer. We welcome Mrs. McClure, her husband Jonathan (new teacher/coach at JNHS), & their 3 children to the Jim Ned family!
Jim Ned Middle School Principal - Mr. Scott Carlisle: Mr. Carlisle joins us from Peaster ISD & has several successful years of leadership experience. He and his wife, Amanda (new teacher at Lawn Elementary) have twin sons who will be in our 6th grade at JNMS. We are excited to have the Carlisle family join our Jim Ned family!
Jim Ned High School Assistant Principal - Mr. Richard Payne: Many of you know Mr. Payne from his successful years as a teacher & coach at JNHS! We are very excited he will be joining our HS Leadership Team this fall. Richard and his wife (Susan) are blessed to have a 2020 senior who will graduate this June. They also have a son who will be in the 10th grade & a son who is a junior at Angelo State University. Welcome to Mr. Payne in his new role!
What a blessing our new principals will be to the Jim Ned valley!! Great days ahead!
JNCISD Personnel - Needs & Gratitude
We have a handful of vacancies remaining in the district & our principals are hard at work to fill these positions. It is ALWAYS our goal is to find the VERY best candidates for every vacancy, so please pray that we are able to do that. We appreciate your support! Also, please help spread the word that we have two secretary/administrative assistant positions available in the district for the 2020-21 school year:
- Superintendent's Secretary: Due to Mrs. Pat Parnell's pending retirement in the Business Office, the Superintendent's Secretary position will soon be available as Mrs. Laurie Voce slides into Mrs. Parnell's role. The district is receiving applications for the Superintendent's Secretary position through Wed. 5/27/20.
- JNMS Secretary: Longtime JNCISD secretary, Mrs. Carolyn Golson, will be retiring in June. Most recently, she has served as the MS secretary, but also served as the Superintendent's Secretary for years. We are looking for her replacement as Middle School Secretary. This position will be filled by our new MS Principal, Mr. Carlisle.
For those faculty & staff who will not return in 2020-21, we wish you the very best & thanks for your outstanding service to our students & families!

ORDER YOUR 2020 "WARRIOR" YEARBOOK – DEADLINE JUNE 1
While our school community is facing unprecedented times, The Warrior, the Jim Ned CISD yearbook, is in its final stages of documenting this school year’s history. The book is on sale now through June 1.
The cost of the yearbook is $30.00 (+$5 if you want name engraved). This price is significantly lower than our traditional $50, and is just for the 2020 year. The price is not indicative of a decrease in size of the book, but rather of our Tribe Strong mentality to make sure those students that want a book will be able to purchase one in these economic times.
There are two ways to purchase the yearbook:
#1. To order the 2020 Warrior online, you may go to our publishing company, Balfour Publishing, at the following link: https://bit.ly/2Kl553A
Once you are on this page, fill in grade and name information and click “Shop for this student”.
You will find “Yearbook Only Package” at the far right, click “Get Started”.
The next page allows you to order a nameplate/engraving, if you so chose. (Please note that the picture of the yearbook is not our cover.) Make sure your quantity is correct and click “Add to Cart”.
You will then “Checkout”. (there is no discount code) You will need to supply an email address and then pay with either credit card or PayPal.
#2. If you prefer, you can mail a $30.00 check or money order to Jim Ned Yearbook, P.O. Box 9 Tuscola, TX 79562.
Please enclose a note to indicate: your child’s name, your child's current grade (and campus if elementary). Provide either a phone number or email address in case we have any questions. If wanting to have name engraved, please print clearly, no more than 21 characters, and make your check or money order for $35.00.
Please direct all questions to Kristi Whitehurst at kwhiteh@jimned.esc14.net
