Media comes in different forms such as television, radio, internet, newspaper, music, billboards, etc. It’s like communicating with other people in the world about information that are and isn’t true. I think media attention can be good and bad depending on what type of person you are. It’s good for some because if you hear good things about a person then you can’t really say anything negative about them. If you hear bad things about something I think they get more media attention because others enjoy hearing gossip and they take information and make it even bigger then what it is. I feel like some people can handle that if you are true to yourself and you are confident about what you do and don’t care what others say but others get drowned in the negativity. Media literate is all the access that you have to create media. You gain all this information by evaluating what you see or hear from others. Most times it’s not true but if you constantly hearing or seeing the same thing from others then you most likely going to think it’s true. Media literate also builds an understanding of the role of media in society. I think that media literate helps the students use all these forms of media to analyze and evaluate at school. It also helps build our knowledge on the media so that we can control the interpretation of what we are seeing or hearing rather than letting the interpretation control us.

Since, I know how a family member feels like when one of their loved ones are killed by the police I would start a trend every year. I would want to get everyone that has similar issues and everyone that knows that situations involved police brutality to all needs to get involved in this because this is something that isn’t going away but is increasing more as the years go by. So, we have to at least try harder to put a stop to this because some police officers know our pain they get us but from the ones that doesn’t want to protect us that wants to discriminate us needs to be stopped. So, every year we all should come together and for one day make this issue international known so that no one ever forget the wrongs that has been done to innocent people. I feel like us coming together will get us far because celebrities get involved and police officers get involved too so this would be big and then maybe everyone else will realize that we are tired of being treated bad because of our background because all of us isn’t the same, only because the color of our skin but deep down we are all different and I’m not saying that we do no wrongs because there are people that do but it’s about our rights and that we are supposed to be living in a country of freedom but it doesn’t feel like it. If this issue continue to go unnoticed then later on in life we all will be gone and when or children are adults and them and their kids have to go through the same thing too. So, it's now or never.

In the Kia commercial “walken closet” Christopher Walken is trying to convince the guy to wear the colorful sock which symbolizes differences or the beige sock with he always wear which is plain and boring.
After, Christopher Walken’s explain to the man that choosing the colorful sock will eventually overcome that beige sock so does he want to still remain the same and wear the beige sock or does he want to be better and different and choose the colorful.
The purpose of the video isn’t about the socks but it explains that if you can be more different and better if you get the Kia Optima and feel good in the car which is implying that it would fit you well or just get any other regular car which would be like choose the same sock.
This video is targeting towards drivers or people that want to switch up there car style, this commercial addresses people in a humorous way but also persuasive and serious tone ehich makes the audience think about if they want to get the 2016 Kia Optima

I think that society has made advertising open to judge genders. I think it depends on the gender that is in charge of whatever advertisement. What i mean is that in some videos there were women being advertised something like just for there beauty tiger what they want and then there is some video where the women are the responsible ones and the men are nonchalant and are stronger then us. This reflects societal values because anything a man can do a woman can and vice versa but how society as made it women are dependent on men in situations that considers hard work things that are "men like". But independent things like babies and there appearance. I think so cities point of view could change if women would speak up more about it. Until then we will always be classified as something we don't feel like we aren't. I also think that men need more credit when it comes to children. They make it seem like men don't know how to take care of their there kids without the mom being around to help them when there are fathers that are single parents in this world that does just about everything a mom does.
Manipulation In Media S'More # 5

There is hypocrisy in advertising because I feel like it's not about helping it's about the money. That's why it's so much hypocrisy in advertisement. I couldn't find any videos that I really like but I have an example from what I see which Walmart advertising American Cancer Society is. Yes, Walmart sells health foods buy they also sell products that can be cancerous. Walmart has processed foods and rotten produce that even poor workers doesn't buy because they know about what's going on in their store. Also, there workers doesn't have access to health care, as Walmart offers plans it's employees can't afford as well as continues to cut their health benefits. So, if they can't support their own workers then how can they support an organization when most likely they have workers that have cancer? This organization is for every people that has cancer and Walmart doesn’t even support their workers or give them afford health plans. I feel that you can’t support millions of others if your own workers are one of those people but you don’t can’t even help them either working for you when they are helping your company by working for you.
Should Apple Fix ? S'more #6

Based on Apple’s reputation they shouldn’t unlock the phone. They would be hypocrites because what’s so interesting about Apple’s technology is the security codes. You can use a pin, fingerprint, and long or short passwords. Smartphone users in general love the fact that they only have access to their phones unless they give it to someone they trust. If Apple makes a new IOS update, which is what the police wants them to do, then everyone would have access to any IPhone. Even if Apple could do that for one phone to get information what if they don’t find anything or ISIS will know that they unlocked it and they change their locations. I also think that is rude that the police are even thinking about breaking into the IPhone even though the company doesn’t want them too. No one will understand that it’s about freedom and privacy and if anyone was in the place where their find was getting unlocked against your will then you would be very unhappy. I don’t want to make it seem like I want ISIS to hurt us and I want don’t want to find out the information but it’s not there product and if Apple says no then no.

I agree with Mr.Kin because Tyler Clementi situation was out for everyone to see. In Oceania it might sound worst because you live in fear and you can’t be carious to anything because you can get caught by the thought police and told on to Big Brother. But when you get caught it’s not broadcasted on what you got caught doing throughout Oceania you get took in and penalized. Tyler had to suffer from being judged by his peers and he was embarrassed. In the article, “he might have asked little brother into his room instead of choosing, fatally, to keep him out in the only manner he must have thought possible”, it says that he should have made it known that he was possibly into guys or he could of handle it differently by basically making fun of himself. But he could’ve handle it different because he wasn’t the only one exposed.

On Politifact I found out at candidates are confused on what they lie about. They lie about each other basically so that others can get more voters. It’s very important to research the legitimacy of the candidates because you need to know if whoever you are voting for is telling the truth. Why would you want a liar to be your president and lead the country? It also show if they know what they’re talking about most of the time. I don’t believe that most people check at the facts of their candidates because if they knew then they would change their minds. I think they go base off who is popular and who they know and what they like to hear. Half the time for you we can’t rely on the media because whatever we see on the internet because we’re going to believe it but I wouldn’t believe anything that isn’t showing evidence. The problem with not looking up the truth is that you don’t know who you’re voting for. If you don’t look at the background of your candidate and the things they say and it’s all a lie your gone to be confused what happened to the person you voted for. You should always see the truth with a candidate because that’s someone you want to be our president.

Winston is very similar to Snowden because Winston as a writer and he secretly dreamed of rebelling against Big Brother. Snowdeb was a computer specialist and leaked the government secrets. They both worked close with the state security and was disgusted by what the government was found such as privacy. The only difference between the two was that Snowden actually went with his plan and lived to tell his story as to Winston that don't and he was killed. O'Brien understood his place in the soci they was living in. He always knew just about everything so he was like a enemy, friend, and etc. He was fine with how everything was and he was very different from a Winston and Snowden because they didn't agree with the government
Is Technology Sent From Heaven ? S'more #11

I don’t think technology was sent from heaven but it does have some good in it. The good would be getting to e-mail family members, online applications, and schooling. Through e-mail they can get whatever you sent in one minute or a day. By mail it takes almost a week and it also cost money because you have to buy stamps and envoples. The bad would be that kids today don’t go outside like that anymore or be active because of technology. They don’t know the real value of fun and going out. You also have things like cyberbullying and that can lead to people hurting themselves or even worst. You get false information, get your money took away, and even your identity took. Even though technology can come in handy it wasn’t sent from heaven.
Happiness vs. Freedom S'more #12

I kind of agree with Winston because Happiness is something I would choose if I had to but how can u be happy with no freedom? Same for today’s society I feel that you can’t be happy with no freedom because you have no privacy which is already something that’s a problem today. I know that everybody would love their privacy and that what keeps us happy knowing that whatever we do on our computer, phones, etc. is just for us and no one else in the world can access it makes us happy. Knowing that people can see what we do is kind of disturbing because it’s our information that the government can see or whoever else that can access our information. But we also have to deal with what we have now because our world could’ve been like Oceania and we would’ve been penalized for thing for being curious or falling in love with someone which would be herd because that’s something we can’t help. Snowden explains to us that once we send a picture as a message or on the internet it’s automatically in the system so now the government can see it. They can even see our messages and knowing that it doesn’t bring happiness knowing that we don’t have freedom.
What is Gas Lighting ? S'more #13

Gas lighting is when a victim is manipulated into doubting his or her own memory, perception or sanity. Since everyone in the world have their own beliefs and they would like to get people on their side they try to talk them into at least being interested. Even though that’s not something you’re against they can gaslight you by putting stuff in your head that would confuse you and make you question yourself. An example would be with religions, not saying they are lying to get you to convert but they tell you certain things that would have you questioning your religion especially when you don’t know much at all and if someone is telling something that makes sense then you gone to want to know more. This event isn’t something that happened recently but it plays a big part in our lives today which is 9/11. Gas lighting in America happened and we detect political manipulation due to fear and confusion which caused us to blindly accept whatever Bush was saying to us. I think what can stop gas lighting is to believe in yourself and the things you say. If we know that whatever information is a lie why question ourselves when we know the truth.
Can we auto-correct Humanity ? S'more 14 Part 1

What we can do so that we can auto-correct humanity's get out more physically then electronically. Nowadays, we communicate through FaceTime,Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook that we don't even go out anymore. Eventually, relationship died over the Internet too because all it takes is for someone not to reply and you loss communication with that person. In my generation, I don't think that we can control being addicted to social media. This is what we grew up on and everyday it's expanding and becoming more addicting because our friends are involved so it's hard to not want to be involved in social media too. This is how we keep up with our favorite celebrities and try to communicate with them so they know how inspired we are by them and just show our love to them through social media because we most likely not going to get that chance in person. Also, communicate with friends and family that live far away that we don't see often. So, when you login into a computer it's hard not wanting to find out the latest news. Now, that you can use technology for school like online classes we can focus more on research and things that need to be done on the Internet then what you want to see. Social media is very dangerous because it lead to things like bully and catfish and if we actually get out physically be with our family and friends then we can build a close bond. It gets boring texting someone everyday and not being with them physically and that's how relationships die. If you use technology for the right reasons then we won't be slaves to it they actually need views to keep running so they will need us in the end.
Media Literacy Course- S'more 14 Part 2

Throughout this course and looking back not not just one of my entries but all of them I noticed that it's all about social media and technology. Basically have you think about the real world and question yourself about social media and if it controls you. my views on Media Literacy hasn't changed I still feel that you can be manipulated but you also have control. Also, that whatever negative comment or post you put out for the media helps you and others learn form your mistakes. I learned that social media controls everything and it's no getting away from it. It doesn't matter if the situation is good or bad it will always have control. From Thai class I will take the fact that we have the ability to control important things from social media for example, police brutality and bulling. This class was different because it's teaching you about reality and something that's going on that we don't notice or think about. I think anything should be ran differently in this class. If you really want to be interested and constantly thinking then this class is it.
