Silver Cord Opportunities
The EHS Robotics Club is looking for Volunteers to help at upcoming competitions.
Mr. Miller is looking for anybody interested in obtaining volunteer hours or silver cord hours. We are in need of volunteers with our Robotics competitions coming up. The tough part is, Jan 22 is in Rock Rapids, IA and Feb 5 is in Sioux Center. The competition runs from about 8 am - 5 pm (roughly) so you could get 9+ hours. Volunteer for the Jan 22nd one and you should be able to ride the bus. The February 5th on at Sioux City you would have to drive yourself. Please see Mr. Miller in S101 if you are interested in volunteering or need more information before you decide.
The Siouxland Humane Society is in need of some volunteers to help us make our Gourmet Double Chocolate Caramel Apples. This is our largest fundraiser and it takes a lot of hands to complete the project! Our goal this year is to make 7,500 apples in just one week!
Sunday, January 30th – We, will be moving into Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church located at 900 6th Street. Our hours for that day will be 12pm to 8pm. We will be looking for volunteers to help move in, set up and start production. We will starting to caramel around 1pm, with the milk chocolate starting up at 4pm.
Mon, Jan 31 through Wed, Feb 2nd our hours are 8:30am-9pm. Shifts are: 8:30am-1:30pm, 1pm-5:30pm, 5pm-9pm. Monday-“WRAPPERS”- will not start till 11am.
Thursday, Feb 3rd our hours are 8:30am-5:30pm. Shifts are 8:30am-1:30pm, 1pm-5:30pm.
There are a number of different stations that need spots filled such as: Caramel, Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate, Wrap, Box Counter, Tray Carriers. One area that we seem to struggle with every year is having tray runners for the shifts. A tray runner helps get trays of product from one area into another! It does involve lifting and can be fast paced. Are you one that is up for the challenge in helping out with volunteering for any area, we could sure use you!
While we have volunteer shifts set up, we can make adjustments to work around student schedules! Anyone that is interested can contact Kelly Erie at kelly@siouxlandhumanesociety.org or 712-252-2614 ext. 13 or Missie at melissa@siouxlandhumanesociety.org or 712-252-2614 ext. 16.
