*light and Sound
Sound is when molecules in the air vibrate and rub against each other and creates sound in waves called sound waves that we pick up with our ears that are shaped like funnels that funnel in sound.
Light is when a beam hits and object and either reflects, upserb, or is refracted to illuminate an object. Light can be used to create different energy like electricity . Many things can create light such as the sun which sends waves of light that can illuminate and
heat things to help animals survive.
Light Volcabulary
Light- when a beam reflects, refracts, and is abserbed by an object.
Photon-a unit of light.
pitch- a measure of how low or high a sound percieved to be.
Dispersion-in optics,the processs
of separating a wave of different frequencieIntesity - the rate at which a waves energy flows through a given unit of space.
sound wave-a longitudinal wave that is caused by vibrations and that travels through a medium.
prism-in optics,a system that consists of two or more plane surfaces of a transparent solid at an angle with each other.
radar-radio detection and ranging,a system that uses reflected radio waves to determine the velocity and location of objects.
In physics, light refers to electromagnetic radiation. The light we normally talk about in everyday life refers to the visible
Fun Facts
pectrum (the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that the human eye can see).
Other mananimals can see parts of the spectrum that humans can’t. For example, a large number of insects can see ultraviolet (UV) light.
UV light can be used to show things the human eye can’t see, coming in handy for forensic scientists.
The wavelength of infrared light is too long to be visible to the human eye.
Scientists study the properties and behaviors of light in a branch of physics known as optics.
TROUGH-the region of a lower air pressure
in a sound wave.
