And more!
With our student enrollment currently up to 796 students, we ask that just one parent accompany each child to Back-to-School Night.
We have great plans for the upcoming school year. Below is some information that you may find useful as we kick off the year.
**NEW: Wizard Academy (for 6th Grade students ONLY) - Wednesday, August 16 during regular school hours (8:25-3:55)
This will be a day for our 6th grade students to make the big transition from elementary to middle school without the added pressure of our older students in the building – They will have the entire building to themselves!
We will have some fun, orientation activities with assemblies and tours.
Students will attend all of their classes with an abbreviated schedule in order to meet their teachers
All students will attend on Thursday, August 17 - which will be the first day for our 7th and 8th Grade students
Doors will open at 8:25 each morning
Class hours are 8:40-3:55
Entering the building: Each morning our doors will open at 8:25 AM. After arriving at school, students will enter from 3 different entrances depending on their grade level.
Eighth graders will come into the building using the main entrance.
Seventh graders will enter through the large doors on Main Street.
Sixth graders will come in the west doors by the cafeteria.
To help with traffic flow, we strongly recommend that you drop your students off closest to the entrance they will be entering - 6th and 8th Grade parents using the main parking lot, and 7th grade parents dropping off in the cut-out on Main Street.
Lockers: Sixth Grade students will be assigned academic lockers with a locker partner at random. Lockers for 7th and 8th Grade students are available upon request.
Meals: All students will be eating meals in the cafeteria. Lunch can be brought from home or students can get lunch from our cafeteria. Ala Carte items can be purchased for an additional fee. Meals will be free for all students through our Universal Free Lunch Program. However, we strongly encourage you to apply for free or reduced-priced meals for the 2023-24 school year; if you qualify, there are other fees that could possibly be waived
School Supplies: Please find our school supply lists here on our website. Please feel free to have your child store their school supplies in their lockers at our back-to-school events.
Schedules: If you haven’t done so already, we strongly recommend that you sign-up for a Campus Portal Account. Campus Portal is the parent side of our student information system, called Infinite Campus. Please find directions on how to create your account here. Through this account, you will be able to view and print your child(ren)’s schedule, check grades, and pay any fees that may be owed. If you need assistance in creating your account or resetting your password, please call our main office at (970)686-8200. At our Back to School Nights, we will have printed copies of each child’s schedule.
Chromebooks: Weld Re-4 will provide all secondary students with their own chromebook to use both in and out of school. Please help your child to take good care of it, keep it charged, and bring it with them when they come to school. We strongly recommend getting a protective sleeve or case for it.
Canvas: All teachers will be utilizing Canvas as a Learning Management System. Assignments will be posted on each teachers’ page and students will be shown how to access them. We would also encourage you to create a Canvas Observer Account where you can monitor your child’s lessons and assignments. Please find the instructions on how to create a Canvas Observer Account here.
Dismissal: At the end of each day (3:55 PM), students will be dismissed out of the exit closest to their last period class. Please communicate your plan with your child so that they know exactly what to do and where to go after school.
Again, we are very much looking forward to working with you this school year! We can’t wait to see you and your child(ren) at Back to School Night! Don’t forget, every day is a GREAT day to be a Wizard!

Volunteer Coaching Information
There are a few steps to volunteering as a Coach at WMS. The first step is to speak with the Head Coach of the sport you want to participate in. When that coach approves you, he or she will send a note to Mr. Cox, our Athletic Director, informing him of the potential volunteer, and that the coach has met the potential volunteer and has a plan for that volunteer to help our program. The potential volunteer will then need to come see Mr. Cox to get a Volunteer Coaching form. You will need that form in order to complete an application to volunteer on our RAPTOR system. Once you have the form, go to RAPTOR and fill out the volunteer application. When you are approved, you will be in the system and are then able to work with our athletes.
Please call Mr. Cox if you have any questions, or need help working through the process, at (970) 686-8219.
