Classes at Your Local Apple Store!

Did you know that anyone can sign to a class at their local Apple store? They have fun classes for both children and adults! My children attended their children's "Family Portraits" class at the Irvine Spectrum last Sunday, and they happened to be the only students in the class!

They got to learn how to take great photos and edit them, while having so much fun using Apple's ipads and pens. Their photos even appeared on the Apple wall!

If you would like to sign up for an Apple class, simply go to www.apple.com/today and at the top, it will ask which area you are in. From there, you will be able to find all of the classes in your area, and dates and times you can attend. Enjoy!

Vendor Spotlight

Piecemakers Country Store

Piecemakers offers a wide variety of classes for all ages with two certified instructors for Inspire, Rossanna, teaching sewing classes, and Linda Webb, teaching knitting and crochet. During the school year, Rossanna teaches Project Home School sewing classes, and Young Sewers Welcome - open to both home school and regular school children. This summer Rossanna scheduled nine sewing camps each with a project that not only enables the child to learn or advance their sewing skills, and finish with a garment they are proud to wear!

This summer Linda Webb is offering both a Kids’ Knitting Camp, and a Kids’ Crochet Camp, where kids will learn the basics of both skills. Camps include three days of instruction: morning for knitting and afternoon for crochet. In the Knitting Camp kids will make a cell phone pouch and a headband; and in the Crochet Camp they will make a beaded necklace or bracelet, and a cell phone pouch.

Both teachers are excellent and inspire the children to learn skills that will benefit them throughout their lives!

Just a little about Piecemakers... Piecemakers Country Store, established in 1978 specializes in a wide selection of beautiful fabrics, ribbons, laces, trims, yarns, vintage linens and quilts, greeting cards, unique gifts and home decorations, and much more. Piecemakers, a gathering place for young and old, also holds several flea markets and hand craft festivals a year. Lunch is served daily in Piecemakers quaint tea room, and fabulous desserts all day long. There is also a Wi-Fi room where parents can wait while their kids take class!

Homeschooling Advice

7 Brilliant Reasons You Deserve a Summer Break

Summer break is coming quickly, and there are a ton of posts lately about why you should switch to year-around schooling. Quite frankly, we’re taking a summer break and going to enjoy every minute of it. Here’s why you should too!

1. EVERYONE NEEDS A CHANGE OF PACE

Year around schooling allows you to keep going around the year without ever truly stopping homeschooling. Some families pause in December, but usually they focus on switching to a Christmas focused school rather than a true break.

Sometimes we all need to stop to enjoy being a parent for a season. No more worrying about whether or not our kids got a math lesson done today. Instead you have hours to enjoy together. Go for a hike, go swimming, pick up a project. Change the rhythm of your household for a season and prevent homeschool burnout.
