From the Principal's Office
Dear Braintree Families,
What a great week we had at Braintree Elementary School! On Monday we celebrated our first school wide P.A.W.S. achievement with ice cream and extra recess at the end of the day. On Tuesday and Thursday, grades 4-6 visited the river to collect data. Wednesday was Harvest Day and on Friday some students hiked Mount Cardigan and others had a pajama day and art class.
We have started our fresh fruit and vegetable snack program. Thanks to a generous grant, all students are offered fresh fruit or vegetables to try each day. I encourage all students to try things and to include fresh fruits and vegetables in what they eat every day. Healthy eating is an important skill that needs to be taught and supported. Please refrain from packing candy or high sugar foods for snack or lunch. An occasional treat is okay, but a lunch box filled with cookies, candy, and other sweets is not healthy or supportive of learning. We will be sampling the carrots we grew here at school next week and will work throughout the year to promote healthy eating.
Please remember that learning begins at 7:45 AM. It is important that all students are present and ready for learning at that time. The school day ends at 2:05 PM. If your child is not enrolled in our after school program, they must be picked up (or riding home on the bus) no later than 2:10 PM.
Parent teacher conferences are coming up soon. Please be sure to return your conference form if you have not done so already. We look forward to connecting with you about your individual child's progress.
Make it a great weekend,
Heather Lawler
