Hello, Parkwood Families!
Spring is here! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this year and all of our events and fundraisers a success. Our PTO continues to find great ideas to support our students and our school. Please join us at our next PTO meeting on April 7th at 6pm in the IMC.
Our students and staff in grades 3 through 5 are preparing to take the Ohio State Tests. Grades 3 and 4 will take their assessments in reading and mathematics, while Grade 5 will take reading, math, and science. Please watch for teacher updates for specific ways you can support your child as they take these important assessments.
ELA - Tuesday, April 5 & Wednesday, April 6
MATH - Wednesday, April 13 & Thursday, April 14
SCIENCE (5th grade only) - Wednesday, April 20 & Thursday, April 21
We are excited to honor our military children this month and recognize the unique challenges and opportunities they experience. I believe there is value in helping all children reflect on their parents and how amazing they are! We appreciate your hard work!
We are in the last quarter of the 2021-2022 school year. At this time we begin to make plans for the upcoming school year. One part of this planning process is preparing classroom placements. (Please see the information letter and input form link below). If you would like to provide information about your child for our consideration, we ask that you return the completed form to your child’s homeroom teacher by Thursday, April 14th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or myself.

Counselor's Corner
In April we are excited to celebrate the month of the military child! Students of military
families are met with unique challenges and opportunities. Military kids meet the challenges of a military lifestyle head on and as a result they often demonstrate above average cultural
awareness, independence, teamwork skills, flexibility and social skills. However, military kids
sometimes face the stress of frequent relocations, separation from their military parent and
concern for that parent’s safety and well-being. In April we are asking staff and students to
participate in a number of spirit days to show support and gratitude for our military families.
Friday, April 1 st – Red, White and Blue: wear your patriotic colors!
Friday, April 8 th - Camo or Military Branch Spirit Wear: Wear camouflaged clothes/accessories
or clothing that highlights a specific branch of the military
Friday, April 22 nd - Purple Up DAY! A district wide request to wear purple (the color of the
military child).
We are also hosting our first PTO sponsored breakfast for active duty military/national guard
members and their Parkwood students on April 22 nd from 8:30-9:00. An RSVP with additional
details will be sent home with all of our military/National Guard connected students.
If you have any questions about testing or any part of the counseling program at Parkwood
Elementary, please contact me at Cassidy.digiorgi@beavercreek.k12.oh.us or call my direct line
